What size do you wear, and what do you weigh???
I am 5 feet 6 inches, my natural flux is between 145 and 150 and I wear 6 bottoms mostly (some 8s, if its high waisted, I prefer midrises tho, cuz I dont have a long torso) and I have fairly large shoulders, and my rib cage is 36 around, so M to L shirts. Smalls, I cant even get my head AND shoulders in. :} But in dresses I have to go up sizes, cuz of my shoulders and chest. Couldnt fit in a 6 dress to save anybodys life.
I am fairly muscular, so dense, weight wise, with 121 of my pounds being bones/lean muscle/visceral organs. I know folks taller than me and same height as me who weigh anywhere from 25 to 60 pounds less than me but they wear 8s, but that is cuz they have hips. I am build straight up and down, only hips I had were cuz I was heavy.
Edit to add, I can fit perfectly into my wedding dress again, which is a vintage dress, and its label says 14. I got a fancy formalish dress from TJMaxx the other day and I couldnt squeeze myself into a backless 8, but fit fine in the 12.

This is a YMMV type deal. Its impossible to have an "idea" where you will be judging by other folks.
As I am off the chart on this. I'm 5'10" currently sitting at 220-225lbs (been here since a year post-op...right where I thought I would and should be). I wear a 10-12 depending on who makes it and cut. And will more than likely be in an 8-10 once I get the extra skin gone at some point. I live in Wrangler jeans, and not the Aurora cut (more shapely). My shirts L/XL depending on cut, I have a large heavy frame (22" shoulder span, 40" rib cage with DD's) and carry a small ton of muscle. I figured I would be a 14-16 once I was at "goal" boy was I wrong, but not complaining.

As everyone has said your height and body shape makes all the difference. I'm 5' 3" and weigh 162. But, I'm a pear shape and still am in a loose 16P. If they weren't petite they would be a 14. But, hips make the difference. Tops are a medium/large petite depending on the manufacturer.
This is without much in the way of exercise due to health issues. Now that I've lost 102 pounds I am ready to get on a eliptical. That will definately make the difference in the hip area....

I have been lucky to get down to 123lbs and a size 4. My skin flaps in the breeze in spit of running and weight training, but I look pretty good in clothes.
