B12 levels too high?

I just got my 6-month lab results and my B12 level is 1431 (recommended range is 180-914). My 3-month labs showed 828. I'm wondering why it would have changed so much. I take Bariatric Advantage B12 sublingual tablets (1000 mcg) once a day and also drink around 2 bottles of Vitamin Water Zero and 0-calorie Sobe Lifewater every day, but can't image the supplements in the water would have much of an effect.

My surgeon's nurse told me to cut back to one B12 tablet every 2 weeks for the next month and then resume taking them every day. I'll have another set of labs in 3 months. Luckily, all my other lab results were normal.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is it anything to worry about?

Thanks for your help!

Where you are is good.  Not too high.
But you do not want that to rise too much more.
I would take 1000 mcg every other day. Not every 2 weeks. But that would be me.

One every two  WEEKS?  No way.

Your B12 is not too high.  It's fine.  180-914 is a ridiculously low range.  Below 400, you can get PERMANENT nerve damage in your hands and feet.

If you wanna cut back, maybe try one tablet every other day.  But no way cut back to one every two weeks.

A agree with the others.  My B-12 was about that at 6 months out.  Surgeon said that was fine.  And yes, 180 is much too low.  Those ranges need to be revisited.

I agree with the other posters, your number isn't to high.  My old PCP tried to cut me back when mine was 1500 and I told him no why.  What's gonna happen at that number, his reply nothing but you are wasting money you don't need that much B-12 everyday.  I shook my head and told him I'll pay the pennies a day for safety.

IMO keep doing what you are currently doing, B-12 is water soluable whatever you don't need your body will pee out.

On daily sublinguals, my B12 was over 2000. Took it then 4 times a week, still too high. I now only take a couple per week. DAVE

*eyes Dave with serious ENVY* I wish I had your levels without so much work involved Dave! I've got the big old green jealousy monster! I'm on B12 shots and take 5000 daily subliguals and feel lucky if my numbers get over 300! *sigh*

Every patient will have somewhat different supplement challenges. Mine happens to be vitamin D.  I took 15K daily for a year of D3. Then I upped it to 4 of the 50K IU per week for 6 weeks, then had labs in October. D was a 65. Current data indicates that target levels for D should be 80-90. So now I'm taking 5 of the 50K IU dry D3 weekly. YET, I've read posts here where some post ops claim that 5K per day puts them at 90 for their D levels.  You really need B12 levels of 900-1000, whatever it takes. DAVE

300, wow.  Do you have symptoms of pins and needles or numbness in your extremities?  You said you do injections - how often?  It is amazing to me that you could do injections and 5000mcg daily and still have such a low level.  I think vitalady has the a similar problem but her levels aren't that low.  I would recommend doing your injections more often - I do them 3 times per week to keep my levels optimal - around 1500.  You can also get sublingual at a dosage of 10,000 mcg at vitalady.com - are you using cyano or methyl?  Methyl is better absorbed, so I would get the 10,000mcg of methyl.

You level of 300 is really way too low and you are at major risk of nerve damage and if left too long it can become permanent.  You need to be very agressive in your treatment to get your levels up.

Mine was just slightly high, so I switched the 1000mcg daily to 500 daily.
