Laser Hair Removal and no vitamins/iron for 10 days

I scheduled an appointment for laser hair removal (chin and upper lip) and was told to not take a multivitamin or iron supplement for 10 days prior to my appointment.

Has anyone ever heard of that?  Will I be ok going that long without my multivitamin or iron?

a quick web search shows:

17. Beta-Carotene and laser hair removal.
Beta Carotene, found in carrots, vitamin A supplements, squash, and other vegetables, is deposited in the skin, producing a subtle orange or yellow color in the skin. This pigment absorbs laser energy, preventing it from reaching the hair follicle, and increasing the absorption of laser energy in the skin. Beta carotene persists for months after ingestion. Patients interested in the best results from laser hair removal will benefit from discontinuation of the use of all forms of beta carotene.

So guess you shouldn't eat carrots or squash either, lol. Good luck with it. I'm sure one of the vitamin gurus will pop in and answer this for you.

I wouldn't worry about it - I've had lots of laser hair removal, never was given this instruction, and have had great results!

Do you mind sharing a little about the experience?  What areas you had?  Your long-term results?  Laser hair removal is something I've always wanted for my coarse, dark hair and pasty, pale skin!

I originally had face, neck and chin done - about 4 years ago, and had great results. I am now seeing a bit of hair regrowth in this area - normal because facial hair is triggered by hormonal changes, so I am going in (starting today, actually) for another set of treatments. Despite seeing a bit of regrowth, I am thrilled with how it worked out - at the time I had a LOT of coarse and bristly hair growing - including a 5 o'clock shadow on my upper lip and was getting a lot of ingrown hairs and infections on my chick and neck - that is all gone, but I do have some new coarse dark hairs popping up, so those suckers are getting zapped!

I also had my bikini line and inner thighs done - had fantastic results and no need to repeat treatment.

It took about 6 treatments, each 6 weeks or so apart, to eliminate all of the hair. I am SO glad I did it! I may have my forearms and underarms done too - thinking about it.

I haven't had real good luck with hair removal but I am blonde so blonde hair is more difficult to remove because the laser can't pick upbthe roots adequately like dark hair......

10 days without your vits are not going to kill ya. Just make sure you restart as soon as you're given the go ahead.
 Best Wishes,

Thanks everyone.

I so need this treatment.  I found a place in LA that is DIRT CHEAP and has pretty great reviews on yelp.  This will be my first Laser Hair Removal treatment.  If things go good, I'll eventually have them laser everything (unwanted) off!!!!!
