Bumpy under skin?

Okay, this may sound really strange, but the other day I was rubbing my arms and I noticed that it felt lumpy under the skin.

You have to press down a little, but if feels ripply like a Ruffles potato chip. Ha! Leave it to me to equate something in my body with a potato chip.

I've noticed since then that it's not just my upper arms - I can feel the same thing in various parts of my body.

Anyone else experience this? Wondered if it could be the fat breaking up?

Thanks!

I had the same thing for a long time.  I think it does have to do with the fat breaking up.  Never found out for sure and eventually it went away.

I first noticed mine before WLS when my chiropractor said they were tiny balls of fat and other waste products that I should get try and get rid of.  He used this thing that looked like a spatula and rubbed it hard over the skin - over and over on the same area.  All it did for me was make me bruise.  I didn't go back to him - I wasn't comfortable returning after having that much fun!

I'm experiencing the same thing. It's gross and freaked me out at first. Now I only freak for a few seconds when I feel a larger one on, say, the side of my ribcage. Feeds into my post-op superstition that I'm going to die of cancer or some other horrifying disease now that I'm finally getting permanently thin. *sigh* My brain ... it's scary in here!

Yes, I believe they are fatty deposits.  But I agree that they are weird.

They are even stranger when you squeeze them and can feel them dissipate or "squish". Then they cause awful looking bruises for a couple of days....even they don't hurt at all. After you squish one...it's gone and doesn't come back. Really gross when you think about what's under there. Yuck.

Hello there guys! It's funny that you posted this, I actually felt the same thing this morning on my upper arm. I asked my husband ( who is a nurse) because I was so freaked out about it. He told me that it is adipose tissue (fat) since we have lost weight it's just kinda hanging out under the skin! lol....it's very strange to feel, but rest assured there is nothing wrong with us.   Brenda

Same with me. I'm wondering if I use "cupping device" with lotion it would help even it out. ???? kinda scary not know for sure what it really is. I put my estro cream on my arms...?

Isn't it nice, in such a strange way, when others have the same concern as you? Makes me feel somewhat normal!
