how many days is the hospital stay with the DS?
I'm a revision from a 1980 gastric bypass / RNY and I had a lot of scar tissue and adhesion's as well as a lot of damage from the old RNY coming apart and then growing back together. To get me all fixed up took two surgeries; the first one took 8 1/2 hours and then three days later the second one took 4 1/2 hours. It was pretty rough. Because of all the time in surgery, I was in the hospital for 8 days.
The recovery took about two months to get feeling good again, but it's been all good since then. I would do it again no question about it; I love, love, love my DS. My only regret is that I lived and suffered with that damn RNY pouch for 28 years, I should have revised 10 years sooner.
If you're looking into a revision to DS, make sure you get one of the few top notch surgeons who actually do real revisions to DS.
Feel free to check my profile for more information about my surgery, recovery and life after DS.

What do you love about the DS?
My surgeon is a top notch surgeon at LenoxHill hospital NY.. one of only 3 Drs that perform the DS in NYC. His bedside manners aren't the greatest, but he knows his craft and has many years of experience. I feel like i'm in good hands..
I just hope I have no regrets... and that all works out for me.
You all have been so helpful.. i can't thank you enough!

Well for me, it's all about the freedom I now have. I'm free from the dumping and food sticking, the deprivation and feeling guilty about eating anything. It's the freedom to do anything I want to now and not feel uncomfortable or anything other than normal. It's everything from fitting in an airline seat without any difficulty to just buying clothes off the rack that fit and look like they do on the mannequins.
I'm almost 59 years old and the past 2 years have been the first time in my life I've felt so free and have no guilt about eating. It's awesome!
Of course you're nervous, you're going into major surgery and it's going to hurt and make no mistake, you will most likely be miserable for about a month. But the thing is, it is so worth the small amount of pain and misery; I would do it every year if I had to in order to keep what I have now.
Here's a post I did at 1 year out:

You're going to be fine and in a year from now be posting the same kind of things I posted.

I was out 2 days after surgery. Mind you, they wouldn't let me free until I farted. The mighty fart will set you free, make sure you inform the nurses and doctors if and when you've had a bowel movement or a toot after the surgery- it is a sign that the plumbing isn't blocked and working fine.
