Eating with a DS, PART 2: Another Day in the Life (pics!)
Its so funny that you said that about the cookie. A couple of weeks ago I took a bite of a cookie and it was not very good and I spit it out and my friend looked at me like wtf and I said there is no way something I am not going to enjoy is going to take up any space in my tummy!

Olives! Ewwwwwwwwwww! No wonder your sex drive is on HIGH! LOL! The DH is always trying to get me to eat olives! LOL! If I ate a whole pizza blind-folded and there was just ONE little olive slice on the whole pizza, I would be able to tell you exactly when I took the bite with the olive on it! YUCK-Pooy!
Thanks for sharing dear! You have really rocked your DS and have been an inspiration to me from day one! BTW you are also my DHs inspiration too! He wants me to turn out just like you!

Thank you Jenna!
It's cool to actually see what others get to eat and...grrrr....drink (at the same time). Still a sore spot with me but sometimes I think it helps control my compulsive eating when I have to make a choice to eat or drink. LOL!
I do eat similar amounts at meals but not as much fat...of course! I eat popcorn....minus the butter, I use a yummy powder form....lol! I can also have a little treat but ice cream, even sugar free can really kill me. Gas!! I also have to eat protein within a couple of hours of a popcorn treat or reactive hypoglycemia will cause me to crash.
Keep up the great work, it really helps people to know, realistically, what they can have during the course of a day! Do you eat any beans? I really love them and fix them a variety of ways...thank you Beano and Gas X!! Connie

Thanks, Connie! Glad you enjoyed the thread.
Back when I was a pre-op on track to get RNY, I actually practiced not eating and drinking at the same time. It was sheer torture for me. I tip my hat to those of you who do it (I know some DSers who choose not to, for space reasons). At least it sounds like there is a silver lining re: control.
Interesting about the differences between our diets. I would love to see one of these threads for each surgery type. I think it's fun to get a peek at how other people manage their post-WLS eating.

I practiced pre-op too, and for me, I found that the RNY diet worked REALLY well with my particular situation. The first and only time I drank while eating postop I had to run for the bathroom and throw up. It just never was that big of a deal for me, probably because I rarely drank while eating even before surgery. I think that's what is great about the variety of surgeries available, because what works for one person, and their way of living, is totally different from what works for a different individual.
As regards postop eating... my food on a typical day is very boring.... this is my typical work day:
1. cereal or protein bar
2. protein shake
3. cereal or protein bar
4. protein shake
5. protein shake
6. small meal
7. (sometimes a second small meal)
8. yoplait light yoghurt at bedtime.
WITH the second small meal in the evening, I might get 1100 calories, but usually closer to 700. This diet, by the way, is not GOOD nor is it TYPICAL.... I have come to realize in the last few weeks that I have a serious eating disorder that I MUST overcome. I've tried to up my calories very deliberately over the last ten days getting probably 1000 calories each day, or the majority of days....and have lost nearly 10 pounds at the same time.

~Lady Lithia~ 200 lbs lost!
March 9, 2011 - Coccygectomy!
I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!
Lithia, it looks like the bulk of your food comes from protein drinks or protein bars. Is this because *real food* doesn't sit in your stomach well, or is it more of a food-aversion thing? You just don't like the taste, you dump, whatever?
It would be easy for me to just drink protein shakes all day, because I tend to gobble my food and feel sick in about 10 minutes - won't take the time to chew and swallow, wait a minute, chew and swallow, etc. I would rather just drink a shake and keep going. I have to consciously make myself sit down, chew a meal and make it last 30 minutes.
Why do you think you have an eating disorder?
