After the final no there comes a yes
And on that yes the future of the world depends. ~Wallace Stevens
"If it is not in the Bible it is not so."
SIGH. *****ie, there is SO MUCH in the bible that's wrong that you would have been more accurate to say "if it IS in the bible, it is NOT so".
The bible says bats are birds, when they're rodents.
Leviticus
In the bible, Jesus predicted a deadline for his second coming to happen:
"Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place." (Mark 13:30)
Also, Matthew 16:28 - "There are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom."
And in Luke 9:26-27 - "There are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."
And Mark 9:1 - "Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power."
The generation he was speaking to did pass away, but the sun still shines, the stars still twinkle in the night sky, and there have been no heavenly passengers riding in on the clouds. Your bible was wrong again - in four different places.
In case you didn't know, *****ie, the bible is not all the word of god. Didn't you know? Paul tells us so:
Paul specifically states that some of his words are his own, not God's: "What I am saying I say not with the Lord's authority but as a fool." (2 Corinthians 11:17)
The bible can't even make up its mind as to whether there are other gods or not:

11:13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls ; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
11:14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
11:15 Every raven after his kind;
11:16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
11:17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
11:18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,
11:19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. |

- "For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is one God, the Father." (1 Corinthians 8:5-6)
- "How can you believe, *****ceive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?" (John 5:44)
Being familiar with scripture and being able to quote scripture does not mean that you UNDERSTAND it. The Bible is to be rightly divided - meaning that when you read it you have to ask yourself a few questions like when was it written, who was it written to and how does it apply. In other words reading the Bible and memorizing scripture does not mean anything if you do not understand what you are reading. The Bible has to be studied. I admit that I am not an expert in the Bible. But I do get a few basic facts pretty clear - trust in the Lord with all your heart and all your soul. No one can come to the Father but by Jesus. Living a life without Christ will send you to HELL and EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD AND SAVIOR. Maybe not in this life time but once you die and you stand before him you will confess and beg to be forgiven and it will be tooooooo late. So why not make things right now?

My reading comprehension is just fine. I suppose you've forgotten that I went to Christian school as a child, and have a degree in Comparative Religions. I've studied the bible much more than you have, *****inator.
The late, great Mark Twain said it best, "It ain't the parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand,".

Go back and read the article again Spiunkie. The man should not be in public office and be making these types of statements, not anymore than an Atheist holding a public office should stand in front of a group and make anti religious statements. A religious, or nonreligious, personal belief has no place in a public forum for public officials.
