I am currently on my band journey.

There is no sweet spot, but I am not hungry between meals.

10 months

68 lbs

Yes

I have had 2 fills, 3 cc last August and .5 cc on March 1st.

Pb very occasionally, if I eat too fast or the kids start bickering at the table.

Do not keep my band TIGHT...tight bands are not a good idea IMHO.

No reflux

No night cough

No slip

No dilation.

No pain

No removal, no reason to.

No revision, but if it became necessary to remove my band I would revise to the VSG.

I only recommend the band to people who understand that it won't fix their head and to those who have access to a reputable hospital and doctors who don't make their money off of fills.

I edited to reflect that I didn't realize this was the same post from January....

Are you currently on your Band journey? - Will always be on the journey, when you have WLS the journey never ends

Have you reached your "sweet spot"? - I don't really know about the "elusive" sweet spot as some call it, I am happy where I am and satisfied between meals but never feel the full feeling that I felt before surgery.

How long have you been banded? - 5+ years

How much have you lost? -  135 lbs.

Can you eat a variety of healthy foods?  Most days, but the band is a fickled some days I can eat you out of house and home and the next day I can't eat anything so I just go with the flow.
Have you gone through fills & unfills never finding a happy medium? -No
Do you PB? -  everyone does at some point but not all the time
Keep your Band tight? -  Not at this point in time
Have acid reflux? -  Did when I had my band to tight
Night cough? - Same  answer as above
Has your Band slipped? -  No
Have you had a dilation - specify stomach or esophagus? -  No
Do you have pain? - No
Have you had your Band removed? If so any damage to any other organs? - No
Have you revised - to what surgery?

Any other experience you'd like to tell us about?

Would you recommend the Band?  Yes, actually 4 people in my office have had the band due to my weight loss

Are you currently on your Band journey?   yes I am

Have you reached your "sweet spot"?   I dont think there is one  I can go as long as 4-6 hrs of not eating and there are times I even skip meals from not being hungry.  I dont let food control me no more I control the food .

How long have you been banded?         Just a little over four months now

How much have you lost?                       I have lost 45 pounds and 29 inches

Can you eat a variety of healthy foods?   There isn't a food I cant eat . I eat the same foods as I ate before I got banded.

Have you gone through fills & unfills never finding a happy medium?  nope my band is completely empty

Do you PB?         nope

Keep your Band tight?  nope I will always keep my band on the loose side

Have acid reflux?          nope

Night cough?                nope

Has your Band slipped?       nope

Have you had a dilation - specify stomach or esophagus?  nope

Do you have pain?        the only pain I have is to much Zumba exercise :o)

Have you had your Band removed? If so any damage to any other organs? nope

Have you revised - to what surgery?  no .The lap band is a one shot deal. I will never have another WLS done if something happens to my band

Any other experience you'd like to tell us about?  I'm very happy with my band.  I have lost all this weight with no fills in my band.  The band alone is enough of a reminder to me that I need to slow down, that I need to eat smaller portions,. that i need to chew my food and enjoy it instead of wolfing it down .   There isn't a food I cant eat, I still eat my pizza, my McDonald's, my chips but I'm learning when to eat them foods, how much to eat of them foods and how often to eat them foods.   As of right now I'm losing 6-8 pounds per month. I'm 4 pounds from being under 300 and I'm 5 pounds from losing 50 pounds in less then six months.  I dont get stuck, I dont slime and like I said there isn't one single piece of food that I can not eat.

Would you recommend the Band?  yes I would.

Are you currently on your Band journey? It's always a journey, will be for life.
Have you reached your "sweet spot"? I did, and lost weight like crazy, then I got pregnant and had to have a slight unfil, now after two years of being pregnant and nursing I am working my way back to that sweet spot.
How long have you been banded? 4 years
How much have you lost? I lost 96 lbs, gained 40 while prengnat, and have lost 20 of that. So a total of 76 all together, and still losing.
Can you eat a variety of healthy foods? Yes, I just have to avoid any kind of dense carbs (like biscuts or sticky rice).

Have you gone through fills & unfills never finding a happy medium? Befor getting pregnant I had my band adjusted a few times, but nothing crazy, I think I have been adjusted maybe a total of 20 times in 4 years.
Do you PB? No
Keep your Band tight? My sweet spot was somewhat tight, but never tight enough that it caused an issue.
Have acid reflux? I do have acid reflux, but I always have, I treat it once every four or five months with an acid reducer like Prevacid and that keeps it under control.
Night cough? Nope
Has your Band slipped? I had an issue with a doctor who thought my band had slipped and scared the crap out of me, but my band is fine and always ways.
Have you had a dilation - specify stomach or esophagus? I have a slow reacting esophagus, but again that is something I have always had and has nothing to do with having the band in place it's just genetics, it does effect my band in a small way but its nothing that I can't manage by listening to my body.
Do you have pain? If I eat to much, too quick  or have carbonation too quickly I get pain in my back and stomach
Have you had your Band removed? If so any damage to any other organs? Nope and Nope
Have you revised - to what surgery? Nope.

Any other experience you'd like to tell us about? I love my band, and other then that small irritation with a jerky doctor my experience has been wonderful. Now that my little guy is weaned, I am looking forward to getting back on track and getting back down to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Would you recommend the Band? I would, but I would also suggest that people really do their research and understand how and why the procedure works for some and not for others, and take a really good look at what their food issues are before they commit to the surgery.

Are you currently on your Band journey? more or less
Have you reached your "sweet spot"? never
How long have you been banded? almost 4 years
How much have you lost? 15 lbs
Can you eat a variety of healthy foods? the only fruit I can easily handle is grapes. Veggies only steamed until soft. I have a hard time with most protein so I don't even bother much anymore. I would say I eat worse now that before the band.

Have you gone through fills & unfills never finding a happy medium? yes
Do you PB? less now with less fill, but I still PB more than I think I should
Keep your Band tight? no, 2.5cc in a 10cc band. Still PB
Have acid reflux? no
Night cough? no
Has your Band slipped? no
Have you had a dilation - specify stomach or esophagus? no
Do you have pain? no
Have you had your Band removed? If so any damage to any other organs? I wish I could have it removed
Have you revised - to what surgery? I wish...would choose VSG

Any other experience you'd like to tell us about? the surgery itself was easy. I've been so tight that I've thrown up my own spit. I've been completely unfilled and have thrown up. My stress level affects my ability to eat. Super stressed, super tight band, no matter how hungry I am.

Would you recommend the Band? I don't think I would. My band and I are in an unhappy relationship with eachother. I'm sick of throwing up...in my car...at my desk. It's embarrassing and it gets old fast.
