Bariatric-friendly restaurants??
My thought on this is Ask for a togo box and put the rest in the box save it for the next day or share with someone. If we go out alot of times I will wait and see what my hubby or daughter is eating and just take from there plate. But I really wish we did have Id cards with our photo on them just in case we wanted to use them. Good luck Sherri
But why would you do that?

For Christmas my son took us out to eat. He choose the restaurant, which had a huge all you can eat salad bar that came with all the meals. Not wanting my son to waste money on me I asked if they had a special price for people who ate less. I told her I had WLS and my stomach was very small. She told me that they used to but that so many of the WLS patients were going back for plate after plate of food they had to stop offering it.
BTW, I wound up ordering a lunch special that included a one trip to the salad bar. I had that for lunch and boxed the meal up to go for leftovers.

I don't know of any national chains, but around my parts of town (LA) there is a sushi restaurant, Kabuki Su****hat has several WLS-friendly options. One is the firecracker...a spicy tuna mound (actually 2) that are around 6-7 oz of protein. They serve them with wonton crackers, but I skip them when I am on my best behavior.
Yoshinoya, years ago, would not modify their dishes....(when I was on Atkins moons ago). That has now changed. You can get a side of their beef or chicken or their meat with a side of veggies only. They charge less for these options as well.

The Cheesecake Factory has a really yummy "small plates and snacks" menu with some good choices. www.thecheesecakefactory.com/menu/small_plates_and_snacks/.
The Ahi Tartare is amazing.

Not being a big eater anymore. When in the states and I go out for dinner/lunch I'll ask someone that is also not a big eater out and "split" the meal both physically and sometimes financially. Meals are not so much a problem in Europe as portion size is much smaller. They will really look down their nose at you if you ask for a doggie bag and if you would want to split a meal with someone there is usually a pretty hefty price (up to 5 francs here) for an extra plate.
Welcome to the real world of specialized eating. No different than being a vegetarian. You have to just eat at the ones that suit your needs. If it goes the way that you are suggesting in the US, the restaurants will serve smaller portions and charge the same, eliminating the 2 for1option and start charging for a second plate. In addition you don't drink anything with your meals so it seems to me like you have it made, a pretty cheap dinner. So why rock the boat?

I lived with my rny for 6+ years, and now with my DS I have a sleeve. I've never felt it necessary to ask for a special menu, half servings, etc. I order what I want. If I feel like just having an appetizer, that's what I'll order. If I order a full meal I'll tell them to hold the sides & I'll ask for a take home container. Most restaurants are used to those requests.
I don't think I deserve special treatment (smaller menu, children's menu, senior discount menu) just because I used to be fat.
