One of the guys in my support group is going to different restaurants and talking to their managers.  He is looking to find restaurants that will be offer half portions at half-price for people who have had bariatric surgery.    Also let us order off the childrens menu (not usually the healthiest choices).

Anyone know of any national chains that will work with patients who have had bariatric surgery?

I thought it would be great to have the offer of half-price dinners - but now I just don't care to discuss my WLS with the general public -so I would rather not bring it up at restaurants.  Now, I order what I like and we love the leftovers for lunch at work!  Just my personal experience with this.  I would rather pay full price, order what I want, and not have the whole world know my issues.

Any restaurant is WLS friendly.

Order what you want -- box up 1/2-3/4 of it for home.

Your medical condition is not the restaurants concern, it is?

Think about HOW MUCH you're saving already -- those doggie bags will soon become normal to you and no big deal.  We all do it.

I am with Beth its all about our adjustments not the restaurants and I most certainly don't expect anyone to accommodate that.  I order what I want and get a couple of meals from it. Works for me.

I recommend "The Cutting Board" - everything is priced per pound, they weigh whatever you'd like to buy, and the food is just delectable.

If you do it right, you can eat anywhere. You just have to know what you can handle, how much you should eat and what's good for you.

It's retarded to demand special treatment for a surgery you chose to have.

Buy an appetizer.
Take home leftovers.
Share with someone.

...or eat at home.

No one is demanding anything.  Many restaurants in the Grand Rapids area have been offering half-orders etc.  I didn't know if this was just in this area or if national chains also offer this.
I certainly don't have a problem with left overs, but if you are someone who doesn't like to eat left overs or single and don't want to eat the same thing several days, it would be nice to order smaller sizes.

I think it would be nice to have restaurants for Bariatric patients because there are so many having these surgery or even watching what they eat and it would nice
