No..I dont deal with surgically induced metobolic absorbtion issues--didn't want to--that's why I chose the band...I DID think again...and chose the option best for ME

We aren't talking about YOU, we are talking about someone who is already metabolically challenged.  Can you see the difference?

BIG difference.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Thanks Theresa - for the  many people out there against the band, it's good to hear from those that are successful.  I've checked into the DS from what I've heard it's very specialized & highly risky.  As for my pouch from the RNY, it still works for me in that I get sick when I eat too much sugar, regular milk, etc...what I need is the ability to NOT eat too much and for me, the band is a good option!  Thanks for your success story.  Awesome!

The DS is not especially specialized or highly risky---as a 'virgin' WLS. But yes, revising to the DS from an RNY is the most specialized procedure FOR THE SURGEON, and there are only five surgeons in the US who perform it. However, it IS the one with the best long-term, maintained weight loss.

It's not your pouch that's causing you to get sick when you eat too much sugar, etc.---it's your gut. Placing the Band around your stoma *probably* won't change that.

Hi -- I'm not clear on whether you already have a RnY and are going to have a LB placed over it, or whether this is your whole surgery, which would be similar to the Fobi.

Here is the OH Fobi forum:  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/fobipouch/

I have a very dear friend who has been very successful with the Fobi, and in fact she was my inspiration to get surgery myself.

Best of luck.

Hi,
I just had the band to RNY revision.  I would HIGHLY encourage you to pick another surgery...well, that is, if you goal is to lose weight.  If your goal is to puke daily and stay the same weight, well...you have made a wise choice.
Kidding aside, please do more research!

I have puked ONCE in four years, never lost hair or ever had to have any type of stoma dialation.  There are positives to EVERY surgery and NEGATIVES...seriously...the amount of people who come on this board only to get bashed about THEIR choice is kinda absurd...its like bashing me because of my choice of hair shampoo or birth control--MY CHOICE...not to be picked apart--accepting ppl because they choose to exercise their FREE CHOICE seems so petty!!  Some day my band might stop working and then I will have to find another choice for me, but that choice will be simple because I have the least invasive form of wls out there.  DS wasnt for me--family history of Crohn disease and I HATE taking vitamins...RNY was considered then rethought...My choice fit my life, and I am happy with it...

Best of Luck on your journey...cheers to a healthy happy long skinny life:)

Thanks once again.  Appreciate everything you had to say and kudos! :)  I met someone in the surgeon's office when I was there for the endoscopy that had the band for 5 years then it slipped - she knew it had to have moved because she was eating more and had gained 40 pounds (I let my weight gain go beyond that unfortunately) and was back to have it taken care of - said she couldn't maintain without it.  I feel it's true whatever you feel works for you...there is good and bad in everything...
