Malabsorption surgery...Is the Vitamin K in coffee the thing that we crave without knowing it??

I love McDonalds Coffee post op...Before I could take coffee or leave it.  Now I crave it more than anything.  If I drink black tea or Pepsi...I don't get that lift or craving (so I don't think it's the caffeine).  I noticed that coffee has some Vitamin K when brewed...Just wondering if it the K that gives me that lift??  Thoughts??

Interesting... have to definitely do more research on this one. I don't just like coffee either. I CRAVE it terribly since surgery, not as much before.

If it's a I believe what you are most likely craving is magnesium.  I take a magnesium capsule daily.

I never drank coffee pre-op except when extremely cold or had been up 24 hrs straight.  At 6 months post-op I started drinking it because of Randall Culpepper's Coffee Talk daily post on here talking about Chocolate Velvet Coffee.
Now I'm an addict, I'm working on my second 12 cup pot now and I may even go for a 3rd pot before the day is over!
Sometimes I can feel a frission of excitement just from thinking or saying the word coffee.  You can tell me to stop doing a lot of things for my health or whatever but stopping my coffee intake is not one of them!  LOL
A vitamin deficiency or whatever might explain my need, but I don't care, it's in my coffee and I NEED it, LOL

There might be something to this.  I hated coffee pre-op.  Now I crave it.  I have at least 4 large cups daily and when I want a desert, I head for the coffee.  Don't quite understand.

2 or 3 cups per day of home brewed coffee and I'm fine. Rarely do I get coffee out of the house.  Vitamin K supplements are still good for the bruising you noted the other day. They're dirt cheap, 5 bottles of 100 count 100mcg at PURITAN PRIDE vitamins now for about $8 plus shipping.  To the poster who spoke of her 2nd 12 cup pot of coffee--going for the third, I hope it's decafe. One guy at my support groups thought he was having severe anxiety. It turns out he was having 7-8 cups of Starbucks caffeinated coffee daily. We suggested decafe, and his anxiety issues went away.  DAVE

No, it's fully leaded LOL....  My 'normal' cup is 26 ozs and I drink at least 4 or 5, sometimes 6 cups a day.....  I do have to add, that I use my chocolate protein dissolved in 12 ozs of cool water as my creamer and it takes 4 or 5 cups of coffee to use all my 'creamer' up.....

I've no anxiety issues, no sleeping problems, no stomach upset, no jitters or nervousness..... only effect I've noted is once or twice in the 4+ yrs I've been drinking it , I've had a jumpy muscle in my neck and the one time I got the flu and didn't have any coffee for 3 days I got a severe case of 'clumsy', I dropped my soup bowl, I dropped my water, I spilled my hand lotion, etc....

Hey Dave, My vit K is very low.  I was told to up it with leafy vegs, but if I can get suppliments too I will.  Where do you get yours?    I have ntoiced I crave coffee more now.  I usually drink decaff but seem to crave reg coffee, have to watch it because I already had 4 ulcers.

I crave coffee too.  I have 1 or 2 BIG cups with protein every day.  If I can't have it in the morning, everyone around me better watch out!
