My first Thanksgiving as a post-op:
*$250.oo worth of groceries
*3 days preparing the meal
* Taking a small bite of each thing, and declaring myself full: PRICELESS!

I have another funny memory. We always make our stuffing from total scratch and use alot of fresh parsley in it. That year I had gotten a new food processor and used it to chop the parsley. It was mixed in with the other ingredients as usual and the turkey was stuffed. Well when it came time to take out the stuffing, it was all GREEN!
The green from the parsley bled thru. Mom and I looked at each other in total horror, and then she shouted "Happy St. Patricks Day! "

I remember back in the 80's I went to my parents house for Thanksgiving.  We have a very small family.  I lived maybe 10-15 miles away.  Well, New England is very weird for their winters.  You never know when it is going to snow.  So, that certain Thanksgiving we got about 4 inches of snow.  I went outside, cleaned my car off, brought a pie and my father says "Why didn't you stay home" because I complained about the driving.  I said "You have turkey, I don't".  That may not be my best Thanksgining but I remember it very well.

My 4 children/teenagers shooting up the turkey with spices; trying to hold onto that big slippery bird and dropping it & washing it off and starting over.  Happens every year and we laugh so hard each year at the fun they have with this.

My favorite Thanksgivings Memory was that for once food smelled like a wonderful candle and I was not in the least hungry.

I grew up in a big family.  Turkey was inexpensive and we had a large turkey and lots of meals after Thanksgiving made from the leftovers.  I was married with one child but carried on my family tradition of cooking a 20 pound turkey and using it for leftover meals for a week or two after Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My husband loved the fresh turkey on the holiday, but really got tired of having turkey leftovers,  On the day after Thanksgiving one year, I got an urgent call that my aunt was taken to the hospital and not expected to live.  I was fixing turkey sandwiches for lunch, grabbed my purse and keys and headed to the hospital.  When I came home a few hours later I found that my husband and son had eaten, but left the turkey and dishes on the counter.  Happily sitting on the counter was the family cat eating the leftover turkey.

I started yelling and my husband rushed into the kitchen.  When he saw the cat, he clapped his hands and said, "Good kitty".  That year he did not have to go through two weeks of turkey leftovers.

My favorite memories of Thanksgiving are of being surronded by all my family and the noise of about 25-35 people laughing, talking, and making new memories with one another while waithing for a wonderful dinner.
