Thanks, BLR! It feels so good to be free from finger sticking and taking all sorts of Rx meds. I forgot to mention in my reply, that I suffer from chronic migraines, and have only had ONE since surgery, vs having one every week! That difference, alone, is worth getting the DS!
Another Lap-Band failure here. I'm not going to argue about it, but I want you to know that your chances of success are very small with this surgery. Everyone has to make their own decisions, and sometimes mistakes, like I did. Good luck with your decision, it's not easy.
P.S. If you're interested in the surgery I am revising to.... www.dsfacts.com. Just my decision after a LOT of research.

Lapband 4/08 removed 3/10.....Sleeve scheduled for 12/28/2010!!!!!!
Another Lap Band failure here and my husband as well. I had a revision to the sleeve a little over a month ago.
Has anyone noticed the trend of folks with esophageal problems after getting the Lap Band? I was on 6 months of liquids prior to my sleeve surgery because there were days I couldn't swallow water let alone food.
I too am considered a success story for Lap Band. I started out at 297 lost 140lbs, then began to have problems with stabing pain in my chest each time I ate. I gained 50lbs back or so and now insurance is saying I drank high calorie foods and it's my fault. I negotiated a cheap rate for surgery 8k here in the US and they refuse to reimburse me.
Life with the Lap Band maybe grand for some, but I sincerely believe with all my soul it's a ticking time bomb. Our bodies were not made to support a band being tightened or placed around our stomaches or esphageous plain and simple.
To those who are happy, I hope your bomb is a dud and doesn't explode you into the reality of the fact you have a piece of plastic our maker didn't design to have placed in there.

Lap Ban was SO totally worth having. I've lost 75 lbs. and my A1C from last week was 5.1% (from a high of 9%). My blood pressure went from the 140/90's to 110/60's. All blood work is immaculate. Skin, nails and hair are healthy and shining. I eat healthier foods because I'm never so hungry that I could eat a small child. Small portions satify for longer periods of time.
Even if I were later to revise to something else, I will still be forever grateful for this time in my life.

Wow..just had a moment to read all the negatives about LapBand. No surgery is perfect, for crying out loud! As for percentages about what sugeries works and what doesn't, it's still a heck of a lot better than the 90%+ that fail at dieting. I knew the stats on lapband failure when I went in, but I was already a 100% dieting failure or I wouldn't have had the darn thing put in me in the first place! Reasonable people can weigh the evidence and make choices based on the information available at the time.
I'm glad I've stuck with the LapBand board! Lots of postive encouragement and good tips when troubles strike.

Very true. Most of the 'band victims' are posting on their new surgery type boards.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Oh great, just rainbows and puppy dogs kinda great.
Bandhope is praying for us. Not because the band almost killed some of us but because we are resentful.
It's almost patronizing.
