Hopefully as soon as I win the lottery or land a new gig with a nice insurance plan.

There are lots of successful people with the lap band contrary to popular belief.

I am almost 5 years out and maintaining my weight loss. I have only had to have 2 small unfills and both were due to me being stubborn, not the band. You can come over to the lap band forum and get lots of answers and ask lots of questions.

The band definitely does not work for everyone but neither does any WLS. You just need to research and research some more and decide what works for you.

If my band had to be taken out now I would still say it was a success at helping me lose the weight.

In order to be fair here, you need to clarify because DebbieJean has indeed had a positive experience.  She's a nice person and does not deserve this.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Hmmm I know you are not wanting to hear this story.... but I have been quite successful :)
Im down from a size 30 to a size 6-8 down 165 lbs (160 that I claim on my ticker)  I am actually one half the girl I was yr and  2/3 ago. :)  Every surgery is what you make of it :)  Successes and set backs are what you make of them, not each choice works for each person. Wishing you great success in whatever your choice. :)

Swoosh :)

I really wish this was true Ms Swoosh, and unfortunately it comes across as a slap in the face to everyone that has struggled with the band.

I don't mean it like that....see that part about not every choice works for every person? :) Its like with anything else in life, somethings work for one group while something different work for a different group.  I do wish you great success,  I would LOVE for everyone to get where they would like to be and stay there. :)  It is just a bit frustrating sometimes when some people (not speaking of you or anyone in this posting to be honest) but sometimes people want to bash the band, or bash bi pass, or whatever the flavor of the week is....  cant weight loss people just try to help each other? I mean.... I just don't understand the wars that get started over choices that different people make for their own bodies... why fuss and fight...its not something that is directly affecting anothers CHOICES (and it is that, Choices.) :) Often, most times.... the people fussing... will never even meet. :)

I REALLY do hope you find success and get where you want to be :) This is actually a very happy week for me... I am now HALF the person I was...  it has been a battle, but I'm here ;)

Just keep swimming,
Swoosh :)

I'm right there with you Michelle, 3 yrs and a whopping 30 lbs. Haven't lost anything in a looong time. So wish I'd gotten a different surgery. I wasn't self pay but would have to if I did it now cause we have different insurance now. Sometimes life sucks but at least you are far from being alone.

Unfortunately this is one of those situations where Misery doesn't love company.
