Conclusion The placement of a gastric band appears to be a disservice to many morbidly obese patients and therefore, in the current culture of evidence based medicine, the prevalent use of laparoscopic gastric banding can no longer be justified.

it will provide you the slowest weight loss, the least weight loss, and the highest regain. most people who love the band have had it for less than two years.

i would suggest finding at least 5 people, just 5 that you can personally speak with that have had the band 10 years or longer.

(hint, you won't find 1 let alone 5.)

you can read the sleeve board. probably 1/3 of them are band to sleeve revisions.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Yea, I have info on lap band results.  That thing nearly killed me.  I spent 1 1/2 years with that toxic, horrible piece of sh.t in my body.  Spent the last few months getting IV fluids every few days while I tried to fight insurance for revision.  During this time I endured several surgeries.  Even had surgery twice in one day.  I was following the lapband "rules" to the letter.  Everywhere the lapband touched in my abdomen, I developed adhesions.  Some days, I couldn't even ge****er down.  It would take hours to tell you what all happened while I had the "crapband" in.

Don't let anyone kid ya that the lapband is reversable.  Yes, you can get it taken out.... However the damage it does inside of you may not be reversable.  I ended up going the self pay route and went to Mexico to have one of the best surgeons in the world do my revision.  Thank god I did as the internal damage was so severe.

I now have the sleeve. The difference is like night and day.  I have my life back.

All I can tell you is to research, research, research.  Pick the surgery that is best for you.  I would take lapband completely off the table and look at the other options.  Good luck in what ever you decide though.

Aww thanks.  At the time I finally decided to go the surgical route, but I was and still would be self pay for a revision.  One of these days I hope I can get down to a reasonable weight and keep it off.
