Super Mobildly Obese Long Term Care???
Jim, you are a God send... As someone that lost her father to super morbid obesity (around 450), the last two years of his life I spent trying to motivate him "to get up"... I understand! Thank you for the work you do... I do not personally know this patient, but I understand the situation and my heart just wants to help him... Thanks for your work and comments here! -Candice
“Kindness is more than deeds. It is an attitude, an expression, a look, a touch. It is anything that lifts another person.”
hello Candice - I myself do not know of any facilities but did see on the discovery station once a place in Ohio that specialized in the SMO. You might try googling OH and hospitals there or another suggestion would be to ask Brookhaven if they know of any other facilities in particular in your area that might specialize in this field? It might take some digging as I am not sure there are many such places. I believe the Presbyterian Hospital also in NYC may have some sort of program but again not sure about insurances, and such. Good luck to you and God will bless you for trying to help out, too. Mary
I work in long term care in MN, and I know that the facility has to have bariatric beds, lifts and extra wide wheelchairs and commodes etc. Along with training to prevent staff injuries. Since we usually work with the elderly, not all facilities are equipped to handle a resident of that size. Hope you find a placement for him. Carol
