Well, this is a first.

SO, your Doctor said that your seizures are NOT related to the RNY? Do you believe this? or do you believe they ARE related since they began shortly after the procedure? I'm thinking the latter.... but I was just wanted to make sure I understand.... I'm so very sorry to hear about your complications, and I agree with Catje - you have a fantastic attitude and a beautiful spirit about you! Thanks for being so up-front about your complications, as it's good for us pre-ops to know exactly what we're getting ourselves into! I also believe I would rather be thin with problems than fat with problems, but... you have given me something to think about.... I have reactive hypoglycemia right now (a precursor to diabetes from what I'm told), so I figure it won't be a big change for me! I guess I would need to choose between a more severe form of the hypoglycemia or the onset of diabetes! I think I am going to go with the former (and be thinner as well)! Best wishes to you, and I hope you are able to find ways to treat your seizures through medication or other methods. You have great strength, and I am sure you will push through any obstacles that are put in your way! Thanks for your informative post.
Sincerely,
Leslie

If you're already having hypo problems, I'd REALLY consider a form of WLS that did NOT remove the pylorus, such as the Sleeve or the DS. And the DS has the very BEST results for resolving or preventing Type II diabetes---98+%, compared with 84% for the RNY. And at five years post-RNY, only 53% remain diabettes-free.

Would my vitamins cause an episode?  There's something I'm doing in my eating/working out/vitamin schedule on Saturday's that I do no other day of the week that causes some weird fun around 10:30 or 11am.  I workout at 8:30, eat around 9ish and take my vitamins (Celebrate brand multi and calcium, biotin and vitamin D) and around 11 ish I get the clammy sweats, heart racing, weird craving for carbs/fats.  Usually something fatty/proteiny/carby will "cure" it and I go about my business.

Quite possibly. The vitamins do have some sugars in them, especially the chewable kind. It might be enough to do it.

Finally.

Beth, if I were you I don't know if I'd feel vindicated or even more pissed off.

You have more clout than I do---would you PLEASE ask OH to write and post a "sticky" about this? It's coming up more and more often.

Wow, this sure is something to read and consider.
I had no idea that you have had such a  hard time. I view you as the protein person, vitamins, super guru, and faithful person who helps others out.
I had no idea that you have had seizures, until today.

I can tell you this much, I am not changing my surgery because of this, but you can be rest assured that I will ask about it, I want to look at a doctor and hear what he has to say. I am curious about how many patients Kaiser has that have had trouble like you have .

Now more than every I will be praying for you daily.

Thank you for the information. Where on earth did you find this?

Oh thanks -  I've been dealing with this for years.

This was on the Louisville KY Courier Journal -- the link is up there.

You know, with no more weight than you have to lose, the Sleeve might be a VERY good option for you. It seems keeping your pylorus makes a bigh difference with the reactive hypoglycemia thing.

Be careful on your trip by the way, and blow off the stress over the nut job, she has added to your stress level Beth.
