Niacin flush: does it go away?

I just bought a bottle of Vitalady Tender Stress B-50 Complex capsules. http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&k ey=1268

I am one of the lucky ones that gets the niacin flush from this. I don't like it at all. It's far worse than any dumping I have ever experienced with redness and sweating. However, once I was able to take a capsule and it didn't happen. I was jazzed. Then the next day it was back. I googled it and one bodybuilder site said it goes away -- but I am skeptical of that kind of site.

Does anyone know if this is something that will go away after some time?

Thank you.

It's horrible, isn't it?

Try eating some protein with it.  I heard somewhere that would help.  But I'm like you -- I'm for staying as far away from anything that causes it (and for me, those "energy shots" are it) that could possibly set it off.

It does go away once you're niacin levels are built up to where you're body needs them to be.  But, since post surgery we're usually lacking in most vitamins it might not go away.  Especially if you are one of the lucky ones that are just super sensitive to niacin anyways and flush on small amounts.  I've run into people like that.

My husband experiences this! It was very bad at first, but he's been taking it a while now and rarely has issues anymore.

I get it some times.  Now that I know what it is and that it will pass relatively quickly, it doesn't bother me so much.  If I eat a bit of protein with the B complex, I can often avoid the "flush."  For me it has to be a more solid protein, too.  Protein shake, yogurt wont work, but a slice of lean ham or turkey, half a cheese stick and I am usually OK.  I do think this is an individual thing though, YMMV.

I remember taking niacin many years ago to lower my cholesterol and my doctor told me to avoid the flushes to take it with protein and avoid anything acidic with it, especially tomoto products. I made the mistake of eating some tomato sauce a half an hour before taking the niacin and I thought I would die.

Another option if to either get a Bcomplex with no niacin in it but make sure it has 100mg of vitamin B1 (thiamine) or forget the bcomplex and just get a plain 100mg vitamin B1 supplement - that is the most important b vitamin that we need extra of.  The B12 we get in our sublinguals or injections  Everything else we get in our multi vitamin and most of us have high B6 levels, so you really dont' want to take more of it

Thanks folks!

I will try it with protein and avoid acids with it. (I'd been taking it with my iron and vitamin C.)
