Someone mentioned it to me today and to be honest, I hadn't tought about it at all, what do you think?  would there even be  a reason to do that?
I had my RNY on 3/17/10.  HW 372/SW 358/GW 199

Some surgeons suggest it. Mine did but I never wear it. It is good because of No NSAIDS and NO BLIND NG TUBES but it is questionable whether or not it makes a difference.

I got one too. Wore it for a little while but don't think to put it on. I guess it is a good idea, but its one of those things that you think won't happen to you.

I wear one...I bought it from www.stickyj.com/bracelets-womens-bracelets.html...I just bought the medical alert part and made a bracelet for myself out of an old pearl bracelet that didn't fit. I went to Michael's craft store and bought the crab claw clasps and attached them and Voila...it was super cheap...like $15 for it all. You could go to the Thrift store and find some cute bracelets, add the clasps and have interchangables for all different outfits! I made one for sports as well that I use for casual days. I think it is important, but that is just me!!!!

I can't bring myself to get one. I would just feel weird wearing it.

i asked a couple emt buddies of mine if we should. they said it would be a good idea not because those are things they normally would give us or we couldnt just tell them in an emergency but in case ever knocked out where we couldnt tell them and it was a procedure that stuff was required. they did tell me to make sure it has the medical emblem on the front and also to not get a beaded wrist part cause it would prob get overlooked by them thinking it was just a bracelet. i found the one i want just gotta get the extra money together for it of course i had to like an expensive one lol. i plan to have this printed on mine

I think it's a good idea.  The reason is that after RNY, you should not take NSAIDS and should not have a blind NG tube placed.  If you are in an accident or something and are unconscious, you would not be able to tell EMT's that.

I had not even thought about a medical alert bracelet.  not sure I would wear it enough to make it worth while.

What is a blind NG tube?

An NG tube is a narrow tube they put up your nose, down the back of your throat, and into your stomach.  They might do it suction your stomach out or to give you a tube feeding.  Normally they do it "blind," meaning they can't really see where it's going.  They just shove it in there.  When it's in, they listen to your belly to make sure it's in there and not in your lungs.

But after RNY, the tube might damage your pouch if it's not put in carefully.  They need to use a tiny camera so they can see where it's going.

I bought mine from American I.D...wanted the band type, not braclet.  I don't like to wear braclets, but feel this is important enough to wear.. Also added my Antibotic allergies too.
