Calling my secretary to ask if I had Surgery???

Well Janet, you really started something here! I must say I understand where you are coming from. At work, I've told only one person; she's more like a mother figure to me. The others, the hell with them. Seriously! And no I'm not ashamed. I just know how these people operate; esp one particular coworker.

I work w/one in particular that is a sabotager. You tell her something, then the next day she takes 5% , twist it, and throw it back at you in a negative way. Don't be watching what you eat either! She'll say you should eat more and embrace your weight, blah blah blah. Yes, she's much smaller than I am. BUT, she too has gained a lot weight since I've been here (3yrs). She'll eat breakfast around 9:30ish and at 11:00am going out for lunch. We are talking "real" food.

NOW, I did have to tell my sup, div. head, and that coworker I will be out in April for surgery. She did ask and I said I rather not say. She continued to ask "are you having that gastro thing?" I laughed and said no. Point Blank. It's personal! I figured ppl lose weight when they have surgery anyway, so that will be my reasoning for when I come back. Now, from that point OH WELL!!! I will figure that out when that time comes.

Where you messed up was lying about it. If you'd said "That's none of your business", then you'd be in a good position for righteous indignation about her behaviour. But your lie is gonna come back and bite you in the butt sooner or later, because it IS going to come out, and it IS going to make you look bad.

I believe that *I* would take her aside, confess that I lied, and explain that I was taken aback that she'd ask such a personal question. I might THEn berate her for calling my secretary, and tell her that if I hear any gossip I'd know wher it came from, and I'd be talking to HR about harrassment.

Or I might just 'fess up to everyone and take my lumps.

Lots of people think they can fool the world but the world knows better. You leave for a few days, come back drinking your food and lose massive amounts of weight.

We aren't fooling anyone. The girl is nosy and snooping in things that are none of her business but bottom line, you lied and she's going to prove it.

first I am not trying to be rude but who care"s who kows? Are you ashamed? She is plain out right nosey. I can care less who know's. I tell anyone who will listen. As a matter of fact I work in a hospital And I have had people sent to me (Patients) who are maybe thinking of it come and speak to me. Hold your head up high and know it is not the easy way out. As matter of fact it down right hard the further out you get.
