Calling my secretary to ask if I had Surgery???

Well, I know it's aggrevating when you had already responded to her question.  But, I think that you will find that most women who see that someone else has lost a lot of weight.....will usually tend to be jealous and want to know your secret of how you lost all that weight.  I think it's inbred in us to chase after every weight loss program out there.  If we see or heard that someone has lost weight we are on a mission to find out what they took and how they did it and we would be the first one to jump on their band wagon and try it.  Maybe you should just tell her and it would stop the asking questions behind your back.  Don't be ashamed of the path you took.  I mean...I don't broadcast it either but, when people asked me I told them the truth.  That's your personal decision.  But, don't be upset that she wants to know and is so curious.  I think as a woman that is normal.

I beleive your right. We girls try everything and want to know when somethings working right for someone else. I'm not ashamed of WLS, I just don't want to be gossiped about or have a new crew of 'food police'. I have that at home already!

I'd call her supervisor and complain about her nosiness.  It's unethical and an invasion of your privacy.

Good point Caramel!  Let's remember that the secretary shared the information and maybe considered a snitch for sharing the info by other staff.

No, no, my secretary didn't share the info...my secretary just said...Janet and I don't visit like that. Sorry I must have worded it wrong in my posting.

I haven't had anyone ask me if I had the surgery.  I have gotten--how  have you lost the weight?  I tell them it's hard work watching what I eat and working out and try to slide out of that conversation.  A co-worker said to me---I have a friend who had lap band surgery.  I said, How's she doing with that?  Listened to the response and walked away.  Don't dig--you will get nothing.  I have no idea whatsoever why she started that conversation with me.  Am I wearing a sign that says WLS on my back?

Some people want to be WLS poster children others just want to live.... If the person asking the question was overweight or discussed issues of having an overweight loved one then I would share my story BUT if you have never identified with me or walked in my shoes you won't ever.  Don't try and be my friend now....

Me too, I tell people the same thing when asked about losing weight. And I've had several people tell me stories of family members who have had RYN or LapBand, I just listen and ask sincerely about how their health has improved, then go on my way. I don't want to be a poster child. On the other hand my secretary is interested in having the surgery too, but its taken 3 months of her watching me for her to come to her decision and start asking sincere questions about WLS and our insurance. Which I think is cool and I'm happy to share all the info I can. I truly believe its a Life Saving Surgery!

you don't have to share w/her or anyone else your choice to have WLS.

it's pretty unethical too - her going around asking questions, the only person i would have a conversation with is HR.

if she keeps persisting, tell her you've done a colon cleanse.   then each day send her an email update on your BM's....
