It is certainly a disappointment, but I would simply like to know what happened. Dr. Lane is a wonderful, capable, surgeon. He studied under Dr. Hess, and is highly qualified in my opinion. I am disheartened at having to "start over" which is what every clinic I've spoken with has stated is necessary. My insurance policy requires no pre-requisites due to my BMI, and pre op dieting/lab work isn't required either. They require no pre-authorization. It just seems to me that attending yet another seminar to receive the same information I've received at the past 3 will be a waste of time. I'm scheduled to start film school in 3 months, I gave up so many things just to fit surgery into the schedule..including a $10,000 scholarship. It's just.. ... highly irritating that there seem to be no answers. I don't think God is honestly sitting idly by poking and prodding people into making decisions like whether or not to resign from a Bariatric Program.  I mean.. what I want to know is whether Dr. Lane will continue to practice anywhere else. He's a great surgeon.

I know for a fact that he was aware Amy, his PA was posing as patients, writing fake testimonials, etc.  He obviously supported this practice as the fake testimonials are still there.  He never even had them removed.

What level of professionalism is this?  If he has no problem deceiving his patients I don't see how anyone could trust him with anything.

Just wanted to post again for those of you DR LANE patients.
Dr.Patrick White is in Toledo and does all types of surgeries.
Dr Peter Lalor is in Bowling Green and also does allthe surgeries.
Dr. Lalor was my doc and he did wonderful, but I have heard awesome thing about Dr. White as well! Dr. Lalors officce said if you want to come there, try to get a hold of as many records as you can. You have a legal right to ALL of your medical information. When he left your info stayed he can't take it with him. That should help you no matter where you go. NEVER GIVE UP. There are always options!!Good luck ladies!!

I appreciate you giving this info to help people, but I want to clarify that neither of those surgeons are DS surgeons. Dr. Lane's DS patients will need to travel a bit (I believe Teel and Maguire in Dayton are the closest vetted DS surgeons).

I have heard from several sources that your surgeon doesn't like the DS, is getting away from doing it, and pushes the RNY. I have heard from patients who were unable to get a DS from him. If anyone wishes to read more, I recommend this thread: www.obesityhelp.com/forums/amos/4067913/WARNING-TO-PRE-OPS-T hink-twice-cut-once-or-else/.

This is in no way intended as a slight toward you or your surgeon, and I have no desire to get into a fight. I am simply concerned about Dr. Lane's DS patients who have already been through hell with these cancellations. I don't want them to waste their time going to a surgeon who is unlikely to give them a DS. I think they would be better off going with a vetted DS surgeon: www.dsfacts.com/North-American-Duodenal-Switch-Surgeons.html

I think we're all trying to help here.

If you find out what happened, please let me know.  I sent a letter to Dr. Lane to give him an update on my 2 year anniversary of GBS and the letter was returned with no forwarding address.  I found something for Ypsilanti Michigan for a weight loss place, but am not sure if this is where he landed.

To all out there on this website, bariatric surgery is a tough process to go through and to get approved for, but it is well worth it.   2 years as of March 21, 2010.  My highest weight was 427 and I have lost 253 pounds to date.  Just finished running 13.85 miles today and I have a whole season lined up for running triathlons and road races.
