I am soooo sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what you are going through rite now. I had something like that happen to me with my regular doctor. I know it's not as serious as your surgeon but I was still very upset. The good news is they did not leave me hanging. I found out that a better doctor took his place. I'm happy about it now. I hope everything works out for you.

I work/live in downriver Michigan about only 40  minutes from Toledo. We have an awesome Surgeon @ Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital his name is Steven hendrick, google him on here, he usually does the surgery pretty quickly and since you already had pre-approval things could go fast. Its worth a shot!! Good Luck!!

I sorry this happened to you.

Something simular happened to me. I was in my last couple of weeks of my 6 month diet and was watching tv news and there was a story about my Dr having his license suspended in the neighboring state and my clinic letting him go for breach of contract. My clinic did make arrangements for another surgeon (3 hours away) I went to him and it only set me back about 2 months. I called it a blessing in disguise because I am very happy with the new surgeon and like his office staff better too.

Hey Sweetie, I know you feel like it's the end of the road right now..but pray on it and tomorrow start researching Drs in the area and call around and start asking questions. Was he the only surgeon at this group?

I don't know if you want to travel south a couple of hours to Cleveland, but my surgeon is fantastic!  Dr. Aviv Ben-Meir at St. Vincent Charity Hospital's Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery.  (That's a mouthful!)  You can reach them at 216-592-2801.

Look at this as a blessing you never know what God just protected you from. I had my surgery and had complications and my DR. resigned shortly after so I only have a nurse to see. So count this as a blessing things will work out for you.

Not to spark a religious debate.. but I don't necessarily see this as a "blessing".
It is certainly a disappointment, but I would simply like to know what happened. Dr. Lane is a wonderful, capable, surgeon. He studied under Dr. Hess, and is highly qualified in my opinion. I am disheartened at having to "start over" which is what every clinic I've spoken with has stated is necessary. My insurance policy requires no pre-requisites due to my BMI, and pre op dieting/lab work isn't required either. They require no pre-authorization. It just seems to me that attending yet another seminar to receive the same information I've received at the past 3 will be a waste of time. I'm scheduled to start film school in 3 months, I gave up so many things just to fit surgery into the schedule..including a $10,000 scholarship. It's just.. ... highly irritating that there seem to be no answers. I don't think God is honestly sitting idly by poking and prodding people into making decisions like whether or not to resign from a Bariatric Program.  I mean.. what I want to know is whether Dr. Lane will continue to practice anywhere else. He's a great surgeon.

Dr. Brian Lane did exactly the same thing in Bowling Green. When my Dr took over there, they had patients of Dr. Lanes showing up for their schedules checkups. No one had informed them that he resigned. He jut left them!!! Then all the crap with his nurses posing as patients, he may be capable but not reliable!!
