Grand Health Partners, in Grand Rapids, MI, isn't a terrible drive away, and I can't recommend my surgeon, Dr. Paul Kemmeter, enough.    Please PM me if you have any questions.  How unfortunate.   Good luck to you!

Would you consider traveling outside of Toledo/Sylvania to surrounding cities maybe 45 minutes to see if they have any providers.

How could you have such a good life like me if there wasn't a God directing?

I had the same thing happen...well, almost the same.  My original Dr who I had meetings with and clearance from insurance and everything...called me one day personally and said that she could no longer perform wls due to inability to afford malpractice insurance.  Most of her base clients were Tricare and Medicare and they are notorious for not paying much.

Her malpractice insurance cost her 106,000 DOLLARS per year...plus her overhead etc, she just couldn't do it anymore.

I called my insurance and they refered me to a new doc.  They were able to use all tests and psych eval from the original Dr so I didn't have to redo anything.

I still to this day feel bad for my original surgeon...something has got to be done...starting with TORT reform due to malpractice.  But that's another argument.

Good Luck, call your insurance company.

Hey ya'll.
So, I'm still not sure what happened.. it's unfortunate, as I know a lot of people were on the books for surgery in the coming months. I hope we'll be able to figure something out.
