Has anyone taken them after surgery? I've got a lot going on at work right now and am having trouble sleeping due to stress.

In no way do I expect this to be long term. I'd just like to get a couple of nights of good sleep without replaying my day and all that I need to get done.

Are they ok? Did they sit well? Tolerate them any differently than before surgery?

I take them often especially right now during tax time - they dont cause me any problems.

Good Luck

I take them and I do fine.  Everybody's body is different, I dont absorb things the same as I used to so I only get like three hours of sleep when I take them.

If it's just for sleep, don't take Tylenol PM.  There is no point unless you have pain with your sleeping problems.  The main ingredient for the "PM" part is diphenhydramine HCl, which is also sold as Unisom, Benadryl, Simply Sleep (by Tylenol), and others.  They are all the same.  They usually come in 25mg and 50mg doses.  There is just no point in adding extra acetominophen (aka Tylenol) to your system when you don't need it.

Unisom is a little different, it's main ingredient is Doxylamine succinate.  I use the generic one from walmart.  I can only take half otherwise I am too tired in the morning from it.  So, it may be worth a try.

I take these pretty regularly.  I find it helps take the edge off the arthritis pain and lets me fall asleep a bit easier.  I still wake up in the night, but again, find I can get back to sleep better if I've taken the Tylenol PM than if I haven't.

But, there has been some concern about the "PM" part causing cognitive decline in the elderly.

I find Lunesta also works for me to get good, solid sleep, but it still only gets me about five hours a night.

I take the when I need them, but have found that I only need to take a 1/2 one now because it hits me so quickly.

I have recently had to take them due to not being able to use my CPAP machine for sleep apnea. I only take one and it does the trick.

You may want to try melatonin.  It is sold OTC everywhere.  They come in 1mg, 3mg and 5mg dosages.  It is a naturally produced chemical in the brain.  It doesn't give you a groggy or foggy feeling in the morning.  I take 3 5mg tabs every night and they work within 30 minutes.

I take them  at night when I have my period as they greatly help with my cramps.  And yes, they help me sleep too. I do just fine with them. I take the Equate brand, 2 of them.  I tolerate them pretty much as I did before surgery.
