Accidentally drank carbonated beverage! Limeade from Sonic
I'm with you. I think carbonation, straws and chewing gum are all along the same lines. Scary tales of getting air in the pouch and not feeling well.....(cue scary music) . Do our doctors think that we've forgotten how to burp? Or maybe that instinct was removed with the part of our stomach that controls cravings .
My doctors warned me each time I had a visit (mind you - I've had visits every month for the past year as pre-op and post-op), don't chew gum or use straws and keep away from carbonated drinks. Finally, I asked them if they thought I was 5 that they had to keep saying it each and every time and would it really do harm or just cause discomfort. They finally admitted it wouldn't actually cause harm, just the possibility of getting in air which can be uncomfortable but that we all know can be expelled one way or another.
Bottom line: All we can do is try it and see how it affects our own self and be our own judge as to whether we do it again or not.
