I drink carbonation...I just burp. Get a 20 oz and shake it up and you can get rid of most of the carbonation and fountain drinks you can let sit a bit.

If you like it, have it just in moderation! Get a small and sip all day.

No, it doesn't.

I drink 2 to 3 cans a day. 150 lbs down and still losing. There are a lot of other people on this site who can say the same thing (roughly).

Been drinking soda for years.

In fact, I LIVED on SF Red Bull during both of my pregnancies.  As in -- a case every couple of days.


I'm still losing even.   So I'd say my pouch is fine.

 I had a VSG, not an RNY, so it may be different, but I drink some soda every day. I drink it 'cause it's tasty, but also because it HELPS me burp. I'm not a good burper. I would have to use way more Gas-X strips, if I didn't drink soda. Before surgery, I never liked clear sodas - now I'm all about Diet Mt Dew and Fresca. (OMG - Fresca!!!  )  I have coffee every morning, as well. Both soda and coffee are OK with my doc. I'm pretty uninformed about RNY dietary restrictions, so ...really I guess this isn't a helpful post. But I've already typed it,  and everything. So here it is!  Kim

Hi there -

I have not tried carbonation yet but I DO have caffinated drinks....I don't worry about the caffine in tea or whatever.   No adverse affects of caffine yet....

Oh, and I LOVE G2 (low calorie gatorade).  I drink like 32 ounces a day.   I really need to wean off on that though because even though it is LOW calorie - it is not NO calorie - there are 25 calories in 8 ounces and I should not be drinking my calories.    That being said, they have a great lemon / lime if you need a fix....

I've gotten to the point where water tastes nasty. So, I drink Crystal Light white grape, Sobe Life Water fuji apple/pear, and South Beach strawberry banana. I haven't tried a soda yet, I was never really much of a soda drinker.

Some people can tolerate it, some can't. You didn't explode, so I guess you're ok.
