OMFG WHY ME!!!

It sure wasn't rosy for me, and I planned mine when it was good timing.  I didn't have any  major complications, but a helluva constellation of minor ones, untreatable migraines being the worst.  Being pregnant can be very rough on a woman.

I always hated people that loved being pregnant.  They got the roses and I always got the thorns!

Seriously!  Makes me wonder how anybody has a second child!

I had migraines the whole time, and as you know, you can't take anything for most of the pregnancy.  So I had the nerve blocks - with lidocaine - which meant dozens of injections on my scalp and neck every month.  I also tried chiropractic care and acupuncture, which didn't help.

I finally wound up in the labor & delivery ward at 2:00 am with the worst of the migraines, with lights bright and PA system blaring, equipment beeping.  I wanted to DIE.  But they  made me wait for HOURS while they monitored the baby before giving me anything for pain.

Finally, they gave me Flexeril - WHICH I HAD IN MY PURSE THE WHOLE TIME.  I really REALLY wanted to shoot them.  I honestly would have happily hurt someone over that.

WOW!!!  The morning of the surgery (RNY) when I checked into the hospital, they had me take a pregnancy test just to be sure. Although I guess if the timing was that close, a test might have missed it anyway.  But hang in there, we are all rooting for you.

WOW!! This has got to be the biggest surprise of your life. I know that this wasn't what you planned at this time in your life, but this baby could be a blessing in disguise. I think your baby is going to be fine. Since your surgery, you are eating healthier, taking your vitamins, and working out to make yourself strong and healthy. I'm sure your baby is fine....

I wish the best for you and your family! *HUGS*

Jewels I COMPLETELY understand how and what you are feeling.  I have a now 17 y/o daughter that was soooo unplanned.  All I did at first was cry.  Then I decided I would put her up for adoption.  At that time people weren't adopting african american babies and she would have had to stay in a foster home for months so I decided no one could love or care for my child better than I could.  BEST decision I ever made.  She's in her senior year of HS and on her way to college to be a doctor.  I can't say there weren't hard times but believe me the good times far exceed the bad times.  I will pray for you and tears came to my eyes as I read this, because I remember the despair like it was yesterday.  I am so sorry that you feel this way and you are going through this.  I must say too though that really you're 6 months in and the hardest part of MOST pregnancies is over.  As other ppl have stated plz go to the OB and let them know you had a Xray which can harm the sight of your baby among other things so that they can give you the best advice on how to procede through the rest of your pregnancy.  Congrats too on the baby and the weight loss even though you are pregnant.  That makes your weight loss so far even more dramatic and you should be very proud of yourself.  Although you were consuming fewer calories you were probably consuming better quality foods with more nutrients along with the vitamins and the baby has received all that he/she needs.  CONGRATS (((((HUGS)))))) and love.

I can understand the shock.  Of course you aren't excited...you haven't had a chance yet to absorb the news and really get your head wrapped around it.

You say that your past pregnancies were not good ones...but on the bright side, this one is more than half over and you didn't even know...so so far it is progressing along well!

And the baby will definitely take what it needs from you, so while it may be hard on your body, your baby should be fine.  I've known people who had such severe morning sickness that they weren't able to eat for most of the pregnancy and lost weight as well and yet their bodies do what it needs to do to make sure baby is healthy.

Do you know if it is a boy or girl?  That may seem like a stupid question...but since you are so far along, it should be easy to tell.  And being able to identify the baby as an actual son or daughter and giving him or her an identity may help to ease the depression and help you to begin to feel more positive about the whole situation.

Once you've be able to think about this and once you shared your news with your family and friends, and as time passes, you will begin to feel better about the whole situation.  And one day it will be a funny story to pass on to your little one.

Take good care!!!!

Wow!!!! I know that had to come as a shock!  I understand that it is unplanned, but just think of it as an unexpected blessing.  Sometimes things come along that shake us up a bit, but then we adjust.  I wish you all the best!
