Low fluids and potassium.  I take potassiums pills no more cramping.

When you find out what's causing this, please let me know. I'm almost 6 years out and I am suffering from debilitating leg and foot cramps pretty regularly - at least once a week, they leave me screaming in pain... never had the problem until this last year. Good luck! Maureen

The proverbial "they" used to say lack of calcium would cause leg cramps, so maybe try increasing that.
And I would agree that you should talk to your Dr!!

Hope you find the answer soon.

I have them in my legs and toes since surgery. The pain is many times worse than any charlie horse I had before surgery and cannot be "walked" out like the ones before surgery. I have this on my list to talk to my surgeon about, however in the meantime I take a couple of potassium supplements a week and it seems to keep them at bay.

I had terrible pains and cramps in my feet and toes - my toes actually tocked up at night.  IT turned out to be a selenium deficiency,  I went onto 100mg a day and all the pain went away

I  had  problems with terrible cramps during all three of my pregnancies.  They were so severe that it was painful to walk for a few days after I had them.  It helped me to eat a banana every day.  Also if you feel a cramp starting immediately point your foot/toes up toward your knees, sometimes it actually will stop the cramp from happening.  This has saved me many times.

Somethings you can buy TOMORROW at your local health food store (next time, buy online for way cheaper).

Magnesiumm citrate PILLS (or powder). NOt THE BOWEL PREP! Don't go to the drug store!

You can't OD in magnesium, testing doesn't tell you much. It supports potassium and calcium, but again, won't make your blood levels wander around.

Hyland's Leg Cramp pills. Low dose quinine, they do not prevent, but you can put them in your mouth as a sublingual for a minute DURING a cramp and it helps.

Hyland's Leg Cramp Cream. You're going to rub your booboo ANYWAY. I can't say this actually works, but one tube lasts you forever. It's more an ointment, so a lil dab will do a leg or foot. Makes your skin soft, too! (bonus!)

None of these are medical, but more along the lines of taking a Tylenol for a head ache.

Magnesium Citrate (NOT THE BOWEL PREP!) is taken dailyk, though, as part of your regimen. It is one of the Lytes, but not as dangerous as messing with potassium.

And you can start TODAY, since you're on my time, so your health food stores are open.

Rite Aid and Walgreens (in these parts) both carry the Hyland products, bottom shelf, tho, since they are homeopathics.
