You know, in the hospital, when I was having the heartbeat issue, they put me on low dose aspirin (81mg i believe) and they have kept me on it since leaving the hospital.  I was pretty pushy with them to check with my surgeon before i would take it.  i told them what i knew.  they finally came back and said it was fine.  Not sure how its gonna affect me, but I am taking it now once a day as prescribed...  I have my 2 week follow up next week, I am gonna be bringing this up again.

Did you have any stomach or ulcer issues pre-op? Did you tolerate aspirin well? Do you understand why post-op RNYers are told to avoid NSAIDs?

Low-dose aspirin for heart issues is fairly common, and if I had to choose between an ulcer or a heart attack, I'd take the ulcer any day. (*grin*)

My surgeon said that since the 81 mg aspirin is coated and such a low dose, it wouldn't be a problem.

I got sick too.  Went to the Dr. same day!  I have not seen him since, oh boy June. I take mucinex D for head congestion and I had 1/3 of the dosage cup of nyquil last night. Knocked my ass out.  I have asthma so I slept in a big recliner so my chest would not get congested or my head stopped up.  Push fluids like mad! drink and drink and drink till you pee constantly.  My sore throat was gone overnight, but the nyquil floored me.  I got a good night sleep.  I would not take a full dose, you will abosorb the meds really quick.  Best of luck and hope you feel better soon!

Isn't it funny how we don't absorb the things we need well (calcium, vites etc) yet we soak up that cough syrup and alcohol!  At least the fun stuff we know works!
