Is Biggest Loser's New Season Going Too Far? - You Weigh In
For the first time in the show's history, BL is going to include 500+ lb. contestants in the 2010 season . Is this just dangerous sensationalism for the sake orf ratings, or a sincere attempt to better the lives of a few of the SSMO?:

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )
Fat is fat, 300 lbs or 500 lbs. I think it's great that they're including the people that want to lose weight and that are 100% at risk of dying if they don't do something, ANYTHING.
They're choosing to go on the show. Are the ratings going to jump? Of course, because America loves watching fat people.

I was flicking through the channels last year and accidentally came across that show. I was DISGUSTED by it. The people on there were not SMO but very heavy and the trainers were IMO torturing them for sensationalism and ratings. When I flicked by it there was a skinny loud mouth ***** screaming at some fat woman who was clearly near exhaustion. If they plan to do that with people 500 pounds or more, they had better had good paramedics on set because they surely will cause some poor devil to have an Acute Myocardial Infarct. I think that's their goal anyway. Wouldn't that draw ratings? Imagine some big fat blob dies on set. WOW ratings through the roof. DISGUSTING. Torture is torture whether Roman gladiators or Biggest Loser. I don't want to watch it.

So you are saying referring to someone as a "big fat blob" is better than someone helping someone who has asked for help....oh please

I was not saying "big fat blob " as how I see SMO people but how the general public see SMO people.I have heard people refer to me as a big fat blob so who am I to call anyone a big fat blob? I was and actually to some still am a big fat blob myself. Other SMO people don't call anyone that but the general "normal" size population sure do.
Where is the entertainment in watching someone pushed to exercise until they puke. Sorry but I don't see it. And what happens to these "Big Losers" once the show ends? Where are they 3 or 4 years later? That's what I want to know.
If these obese people are asking for help, I am sure they get it along with a healthy dose of humilation to boot.

It's like dieting and exercise for all of us:
Some people lose the weight and keep it off. Others lose it and gain it all back. It's a crap shoot, but these people are on this show, putting their bodies that they hate on display for everyone! That's something I honestly admire.
Bob is honestly one of the most compassionate people I have ever...well watched, haha. He's honestly there for those people on that show and he shows how compassionate he is in his life off of the TV, too.
Jillian can be harsh, but as those people lose weight, they just fall in love with her.

It isn't a crapshoot, in a crapshoot you have a decent chance to come out even, while only 5 out of 100 people keep off the weight they lose with diet and execise alone. This show is like taking crack addicts off the streets and filming them as they go though withdrawl, and then when they are finally clean, tossing them back out onto the street with nothing. How long before they are looking for their fix?
The show itself stated that their contestants have had a 50% success rate, meaning half have kept off the weight and half haven't.
Beyond that, I watch the show mainly for entertainment. I would never exercise the way those people do on the show, or at least say they do. Six to eight hours a day? No thanks. I'm fine with my 30 minutes a day.
