I'm 4 weeks out and still tire soooo easily. I'm 49 y/o. And yes, I am working hard to get my fluids, vitamins, and protein in every day. So when will I start feeling normal again?

It took about two months for me.

Thanks, So Blessed!

I just keep seeing people saying "I'm 4 weeks out and exercising every day" or whatever while I'm having a hard time just doing a minimum of work, housework, family, dogs, etc. Can't even THINK about exercising at this point.

Makes me wonder if something is wrong with me or if this is normal.

I am so glad you asked this question because I am sooo feeling the same way. I have absolutely NO energy at all. I just got back to work on monday and I feel like I've been run over by a Mac truck. I try to eat more since I know I'm burning more calories but it's not working. I am literally worn out by the middle of work day. I was beginning to think something was wrong with me. I thought the receovery was similar to gallbladder surgery but clearly it is much longer. I had much more energy by now. It's like my mind is saying move around, be active, the wieght isn't going to fall off on it own. But my body is not having it!

I am 61 and it took me quite a few months before I felt really full of energy. At 6 months I feel better than I have since I was in my 40's. I was allowed to exercise in the pool after two weeks and I think that helped me feel better. I couldn't have done more exercise than the one hour in the pool.

Exercise at 2 weeks???? I am just over two weeks and I am still in alot of pain...and exhausted. I'm beginning to wonder if something is wrong. I was definitely not expecting this. I guess everyone is different but I'm ready to feel slightly normal again.

I was 50 when I had my surgery, It took me every bit 6 weeks before I started feeling like myself.  I did not start exercising other than walking until  I was 6 weeks out.  I started doing water aerobics, just now am I going to the regular gym.  I had my surgery on Aug 27th of this year.  I had no problems just had no energy until I hit the 6 week mark and then it was like i had more energy and felt wonderful.   Just wanted to let you know my experience hope this helps.

Alright, I'm a youngin: 26 and I'm only 3 weeks out and still pooped.  I dunno what crazy kids are out hopping around and exercising at this stage of the game but by 1 o'clock, I'm ready to punch out at work - almost considered putting a doggy bed under my desk a la Seinfeld! I head home around 5, get dinner together, do some tidying and tv and then I'm out like a light by 9 or 10 at the latest.  I have zero energy to be joining classes or exercising hard and even if I did, I'd be a little worried since your abs are the things that hold you up and hold you together and upright, straining them so early in the game is a great way to ask for hernias - and believe me, I've had THAT surgery...it sucks WAY more than this one *lol*

I'm hoping that the energy levels will improve but am definitely pushing the water and protein in hopes of speeding up the process - 6 weeks - 2 months...I don't care, just as long as I get enough energy back to make it through the day!  I don't think it has much to do with age, but everything to do with how much healing your body needs to get through this stage (at least...that's what I keep telling myself *lol*)
Cheers,
Ezimmer
