Why can't I have SUGAR? (I am 7wks post op RNY)
With you being so early out, you really need to be focusing on your protein. It's hard to get in enough protein so you have to be careful not to fill your pouch with other things.
It IS okay to have treats once in a while, but you should wait until you are farther out to have these treats. This is the honeymoon period of your weight loss so you don't want to waste any of this time. Please be very careful.
I will keep you in my thoughts and will hope that you start feeling better soon!
Hugs,

As I sit here and wait for my turn, I think do you know how many people would give their left arm for the opportunity to have WLS? So many want it but for one reason or another, they cannot get it. You, on the other hand, just got your surgery and not complying with your nut advice. I am sitting here shaking my head. maria
Why can't you have surgar? I can eat things made with sugar and I've been fine. I think most people limit sugar and carbs because of sensitivities to those foods or an additcion some people can't handle above a certain amount of sugar and they dump. You have to do what works for you on this journey cause this is for life. For me it's very unrealistic to say I can never have ....... again because I had surgery. I will eat many things again but the amount I can eat has been dramitically cut down. I have'nt had candy yet and I probably won't because once I start eating it I lose control but you may be able to be responsible with the occasional bag of cotton candy or other goodies. I've been able to eat anything too and still lose. I am changing my eating habits to make better choices however I've had pizza. i've nibbled on a piece of cake. I'm not on a diet I'm in the process of changing my lifestyle and that lifestyle will still include the occasional treat. I've lost 78 pounds in three months. I feel better I look better and I'm much healthier. You just have to find your way. You'll get there we all will!

An occasional treat is fine, sure. But a bag of cotton candy? At seven weeks post-op? I will admit that at about three months post-op, I had a very small sliver of lemon pie. And I dumped on it. Since then I have pretty much avoided sugar. At Thanksgiving dinner I did have one small chocolate chip cookie. I calculated that it had about eight grams of sugar in it so I thought it would be fine, and it was. Oh, and I also had one bite of key lime pie a few months ago. But that is one sliver of lemon pie, one bite of key lime pie, and one chocolate chip cookie in 13 months since surgery. An occasional treat. But not a whole bag of cotton candy, and not at seven week out.

Wow... I had no idea that my telling you all that I ate 3 bites of cotton candy was going to cause such a fuss...
I really did not mean to ruffle anyone's feathers...
YES-
I am EXTREMELY grateful that God granted me this incredible gift of WLS...
I am very thankful to have all of YOU, my "OH Club" to go to for advice, support, Q's...
This really was an honest Q...
I had heard that sugar was the enemy, and that my body physically could not handle it in any way, shape or form
Having been convinced of this and being a RNY patient, I was truly shocked when I did not 'dump' last night at the parade in front of thousands of people.
I, honestly, wanted to know from other RNYers if I was one in a million who could eat pure sugar or if there were others out there that did not 'dump' due to ingesting this very maddening (obviously for many WLS patients) substance...
I am truly sorry if I have offended any one who has yet to have this wonderful surgery...
I am simply trying to find out what works for me with this new body/lifestyle, etc.
Thanks again for sharing your experiences with sugar...
