1. Are you a lap band patient?   I was.

2. Have you experienced any of the following:  Vomiting, PB, Stuck Food, "Bringing food back", Regurgitation.  Yes, to the point of malnutrition.

3. Have you experienced any of the following:  Dehydration requiring IV fluids, Vomiting requiring hospital intervention  Yes, quite a few times.

4. Have you experienced any band complications requiring a secondary surgery to repair the port, tubing or band.  Band removal.

5. Have you experienced any other complications related to the band requiring a second surgery IE. Gall bladder   Yes, Band removal.

6. Have you had an elective surgery to replace your port to a lower profile version or new band version.  No, I had the low profile port to begin with and upon getting to goal it stuck out like a turkey timer.  I don't miss it.

7. How satisfied are you: 1 being VERY, 2 being Somewhat, 3 being Not really, 4 being NOT satisfied at all.. BOO!   #4 BOOOOO

8. Have you died as a complication of the band?  No, I had it removed before that happened. ;o)

9. If you could do it over, would you get the band versus another WLS option like RNY, VGS, DS...  OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  I would have had the sleeve to begin with.

10. Do you report fewer co-morbidity's as a result of your surgical weight loss?  No, I really didn't have any.  BTW, I lost all my excess weight plus some with the band.

BTW...

JFTR I totally disagree with sending these to an email address.  I for one, would like to see ALL the responses for myself.  Not knocking you, honest.  But I don't know you.  I want to see the answers with my own eyes.,

well the good news is that about half are being posted on the main board and the lap band board. The other half are going to my in box.  I imagine I'll get the results posted up after Turkey day.  BTW- No responses yet from the Failed WLS board. I know it doesn't move very fast over there so I'll give them some time.

Maybe all of us  should  block every one of them. Then they'll only have themselves to demean. That way,  they will finally find someone worthy of their remarks.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

You probably should. It would be best for your mental well-being.
Won against big bad (SoCal) Kaiser for a Duodenal Switch  Haven't heard of DS? Kaiser wants it that way. Come on over & read the truth
Hit goal (Normal BMI) on 2-10-11!    I LOVE my DS!!
My approval process timeline:
02/12/09 - Dr. refused to refer me for WLS
03/03/09 - Vented/whined about it on another board, planned to just wait until next year & switch plans
Let's see what happens!  **updates in blog**

Inge- just out of my own curiousity, why did it have to be removed? Erosion? infection?
Thanks for responding to my questions.

1. Are you a lap band patient? I was, it's been removed

2. Have you experienced any of the following:  Vomiting, PB, Stuck Food, "Bringing food back", Regurgitation. YES!

3. Have you experienced any of the following:  Dehydration requiring IV fluids, Vomiting requiring hospital intervention YES!

4. Have you experienced any band complications requiring a secondary surgery to repair the port, tubing or band.YES! It slipped and it was removed during a revision surgery

5. Have you experienced any other complications related to the band requiring a second surgery IE. Gall bladder No

6. Have you had an elective surgery to replace your port to a lower profile version or new band version. No, but my port was poorly placed

7. How satisfied are you: 1 being VERY, 2 being Somewhat, 3 being Not really, 4 being NOT satisfied at all.. BOO! 4

8. Have you died as a complication of the band? No, but often felt like I wanted to!

9. If you could do it over, would you get the band versus another WLS option like RNY, VGS, DS..
Knowing what I know now I would not get the band, there is much more research out about it now then when I had mine placed. My experience was awful and led me to waste three years coping with it!

10. Do you report fewer co-morbidity's as a result of your surgical weight loss? Nope, but I never really had any.
