Weirdo!!!! Oh, wait, I was looking in the mirror.

NOW I am looking at YOU, Andrea, you weirdo!

Wait, a proton pump inhibitor would INHIBIT something you need for strong bones? Nah, you're making that up! It's all part of a vast conspiracy, I know it!

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

Dr. Davis' stats does not show him ever having performed even one DS. It shows all lap bands and RNYs

What is confusing about the part where he is hoping to begin performing DSes in 2010...?

If I could count just how many times OH has been contacted to update their information on the DS, I think I would lose my mind. The current version, which still emphasizes the wrong things IMO, is the best they're giving at the moment. But at the same time, when the request for changes to our description were made, requests were made to reflect necessary changes to the RNY description - namely make the wording about loose stools/poop issues be relatively equal to the DS because that is what the current studies are saying. Would they do that? Nope. So, who's to blame in this case? Hmmm? Chew on that for a while before you take information that is not taken directly from a medical study as "black and white."

Won against big bad (SoCal) Kaiser for a Duodenal Switch  Haven't heard of DS? Kaiser wants it that way. Come on over & read the truth
Hit goal (Normal BMI) on 2-10-11!    I LOVE my DS!!
My approval process timeline:
02/12/09 - Dr. refused to refer me for WLS
03/03/09 - Vented/whined about it on another board, planned to just wait until next year & switch plans
Let's see what happens!  **updates in blog**

Reading Medleys profile makes me realize how fortunate I was to have stumbled upon really good doctors for my health care especially out in the cow pasture where I live.   I too have Barrettes to the extreme and back in the days it was not a easy fix, my doctors would not recommend surgery and waited until the FDA approved macroscopic surgery for the fundiplication.
When I wanted wls the RNY surgeon immediately refer ed me to DR Gagner,  his Professor of WLS at Cornell for the RNY, for a DS,  as the only appropriate surgery.   Dr G is also a expert on the Esophagus. and liver.  in the last 4 years he has change my liefs prognosis dramatically, and I haven't had surgery yet.  Unfortunately she went to a relatively new wls surgeon, and a rny only doctor.

You guys keep saying how other surgeries will fail in a few years out. Looking at your stats I see most of you guys are anywhere from 1 to 6+ years out only. Not exactly a lifetime or really even long enough to know but still you go on like you were 15 to 20 years out. There may be other Dsers out there longer out but they have not posted here that I can see. There are RNYers though over on the RNY board and on RR board that are 12 to 15 years out who are still enjoying success. Or do you think they are lying too?

Come back when you are 15 years out and tell me all about long term success. Don't just go by what you read.
