I may not have a degree (and thanks for continually going after me -- what the hell have I done to you, by the way?!?), but I sure as hell know more about your RNY anatomy than you do.

You yourself stated that we don't have any bypassed intestines?  That we only lose our nutrients in malabsorption from the stomach portion?   WTF?  How do we even call it a bypass?

If you are going to go after me, then at least get your facts straight.

Oh wait a sec. Are you one of the vitamin ladies?   Still stand by what i said earlier if you are. Without a degree or a license to practice you have nothing to stand on legally speaking. If the people here want to take your advice, they do so at their own risk. I am sure you do not give anyone bad advice and would never knowingly cause anyone harm but still taking medical advice from someone on line is a risky venture.  Do you not agree?

I am not saying you would give crappy advice nor am I saying you are not knowledgeable but that's not good enough for me. I want to see educational background and credentials. If you came to my hospital and I came to take care of you, you would want to know that I had a license and would be held  accountable for my actions.

Hate to "dump" on your parade and all but if you google "long term complications of DS" you will be taken to the DS forum where you will see a diagram of DS surgery and below that there are several common side effects  of the surgery.
 
I couldn't make this stuff up.
 
It lists among other nasty things: body odor, frequent loose stools and gas. Feel free to dispute this but this is what is on your own forum site.
 
So much for my fear mongering and spouting lies about you surgery. Really wouldn't want DS.

When will you just STOP? You're embarassing yourself.

The RNY also carries a risk of loose stools and gas (believe me, I've seen some very detailed threads about such from RNYers right here on the Main Board). Just because the information on the RNY forum here on OH is so generic and falsely positive doesn't mean there are no possible side effects.

Are the posts that you are talking about from the trolls that come over the DS forum, trash talking and asking do all DSers stink?  No we don't.  I've been in a very large group in San Francisco and nary a one smelled.  There are so many untruths mostly spoken by the RNY drs that don't do the DS, they are called Bait and Don't Switch drs.  So yes, we do try to set the record straight when folks ask questions that they've heard from seminars, doctors, naysayers.  There are so many myths that need to be debunked, especially for newbies that are just looking into WLS, they need to have the correct answers. 

Do most folks wanting the DS have to fight their insurance, sure, but it's worth it for the benefits over the Gold standard which is very outdated.  Enjoy your RNY, but maybe you should get your labs done earlier than later, it really doesn't take long for deficiencies to show up.

BTW, I'm sure it's just your way of being annoying, but it's Diana not Diane.  I know just a small mistake compared to the rest of your posts.

Hey all. Just to reiterate. I have never said RNY was better than DS. I don't really care actually which you have. I still say your body, your life ,your choice. You are the ones getting all bent out of shape saying DS is the best surgery out there bar none. I don't make the same claims about RNY because although I am happy with mine it is still a personal choice.

Knew I'd get your knickers in a knot  on my last post but if these statements are a lie then it is the lie of your own DS forum because that's were I found it. Neither I nor any other wls advocate put it there. Check it out for yourself. I never said any of it. I did say my friend had bowel issues and that's all I said about it. 

I just wanted to say that I just went on the TLC web site and listened to what Dr. Garth Davies had to say about the different types of wls. You might be surprised about his opinion on DS. Now I am sure you will all rise up as one and discredit him as lying but if he were saying how wonderful DS was you'd all be quoting him and the Houston Medhodist center. You know you would. But no ,go ahead and call him a liar too because anyone who disagrees with you is of course ill informed and spreading rumors and lies.
So sad. 

FYI, Dr. Davis' opinions on the DS have changed. For startes, he's never even performed the procedure before, but guess what? He's hoping to START offering it in 2010. Guess he caught up with current research and made some realizations.
