WARNING TO PRE-OPS: Think twice, cut once -- or else!

Since all of the televison advertising I've ever seen has been for LapBand and RnY bypass, there is no need to even mention those procedures.  Everyone has heard of them...insurance companies promote them (and we all know US Health insurance companies only want what's best for us, right?)
My guess is that Diana is reasonably assuming that everyone who has ever heard of wls has heard of those two...and that leaves the VSG...which is the upper portion of the DS and the complete DS.  She looked to me as though she was trying to tell people to make sure they knew about ALL of the surgeries so that they didn't need a do-over...like I did.

I agree with you. People must be really grasping at straws to find a post you made on another forum then use it to try to make their point. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. That's called losing an argument and will use anything to try to gain an advantage. SAD  It says an awful more about them than the one they are attacking.

I went back to page one and reread everything everyone said and I see who made the first attack. A pre-op was asking a question and wa**** by an attack for no good reason, No wonder people are afraid to post on the DS site. I don't even go there anymore. Not since i was researching my own WLS. Not that they scare me, I just can't be bothered with extremists.

I have always maintained for newbies to get the wls that best suits their lifestyle and not to be swayed by people pushing their choice. Still stand by that.

DS is not right for everyone, Wouldn't have been for me, I would not choose DS just so I could shovel tons of food into my mouth. But that's my choice. But not saying that's right for everyone.

And you wonder why DSers get pissy, while people like you are propagating the myth that the DS is all about being able to "shovel tons of food into my mouth." The DS of today typically offers as much restriction as a VSG, and yet I haven't seen you say the same of that procedure.

Statement relating to Diane's posting about her breakfast choices, I couldn't or wouldn't want to eat that greasy mess in a day let alone breakfast..

VSGers are not on here telling me how much better their choice in wls over my choice,

Let me ask you, do you think wls is a very personal choice? I do.

I think it is absolutely a personal choice, but I think entirely too many people are not fully educated about ALL their options before they make that choice.

Talk about your blanket bull**** statement...that one there is a whopper. Since you scrutinize everything that goes in your mouth, maybe you should start scrutinizing what comes out of it.

What? Did I blink or something. Did you miss the point that Diane's reason as she stated for having DS was so she could eat whatever and however much she wanted to without consequence. Is that really the reason to have DS or any wls. If that's true then I am definitely missing something in the translation because I thought people had wls to regain their health and to learn better eating habits, But if I am wrong please feel free to correct me.

You ARE missing something, and that is that, just like those WITHOUT surgery of any kind, we all eat a little differently. If me eating my 6" sandwich from Subway this afternoon (with much of the bread ripped off) is me eating "whatever and however much" I want, then I guess you're right. We all decided to have 80-85% of our stomachs permanently removed so we could just shovel food in our pieholes. Yup, makes perfect sense.

And, please, it's Diana, not Diane.

As you say jillybean we all have wls for our own reasons it is an indivual choice, I eat subs the same way you do. I tear off the bread or get the sub as a salad without the bread at all. I get the cold cut trio or italian meatball.

I don't care why Diana got her DS or abybody else for that matter. Your wls, your choice. All I want is if anyone is going to post about wls they are completely honest and not try to push one over the other,

All wls' have their pros and cons.No one type is for everyone.
