WARNING TO PRE-OPS: Think twice, cut once -- or else!
Ancient Anus doesn't just say things "I disagree with' -- he spouts dangerous lies and claims them as facts -- he has to be rebutted because newbies and idiots think his information is true and they could make HORRIBLE, LIFE-CHANGING MISTAKES if they don't get proper information. Do you not know the difference between the implications of whether he has an opinion regarding rap music and him telling LIES about the DS to pre-ops who are vulnerable to making life-changing decisions based on those lies, because they don't know he's a malicious idiot?
Don't presume to tell me what I can post, on the main message board or elsewhere. If you think I'm violating the TOS, report me. Better yet, BLOCK ME and resume your obtuse, simple-minded, ignorant, vitamin-deficient existence.
Begone! Your posts are no longer of any interest to me, because they are dull and redundant, and I can't fix your stupidity.

I get it now. I do see how this works. If anyone comes to these posts with an opinion that differs from the DS mindset, several of you who cannot form an intelligent argument attack the poster like a swarm of mad bees. Then through your rudeness and general ignorance of human decent behavior hope anyone who differs will go away because if their ideas does not conform to yours you feel threatened and resort to name calling.
So sad to see adults act in such a fashion but I guess you live in your own perfect world where slathering your food with fat and grease is what you really believe is healthy eating. Oh my God!Wake up and smell the coffee. You are so far behind that you think you are ahead.
I am not and will not be intimidated or scared off by your childish behavior. I want all pre-ops to know what a pile of bull**** these claims of wonderful DS are. It is what it is. Another weight loss surgery in the realm of many weight loss surgeries. All are successful to some people and all are unsuccessful to some people. It is most important to choose one that fits YOUR lifestyle and don't listen to crazy people who try to sell you on one over the other, This is your life, your choice. I am as happy with my RNY as Diane is about her DS Just be sure you can live with the reality of your choice.

You have a healthy dose of skepticism for people online, but none for medical professionals. Interesting. Let me guess...you think they do it out of the kindness of their hearts, too, right? That money does not motivate them at all?
The lessons learned by this collective OH group (of all surgeries) are more practical than just about anything your dietician can tell you. We all have been there--assuming our doctors and dieticians are right. But then we find our labs slipping.
People are trying to help you by savinng you a world of hurt and you won't listen. Take their concerns to your doc and dietician, by all means. Tell them 100s of people on OH tell you that you should take vites than you're taking. Do some research on your own to find out what you should be taking. There are some basic things even the conservative ASMBS recommends for post-RNY life. This is life and death, so I wish you would act like an adult and take responsibility for yourself.
The only reason your labs are "good" now (and "good" is extremely relative) is because you are so new out of the gate. Trying to fix a deficiency later is like trying to sandbag a flooding river. It's better to shore up the land ahead of time. And your weight loss? You SHOULD be happy with your weight loss at this point. It's the long-term you should be concerned about.
Seriously, check out vitalady.com and Andrea's blog (she is on this thread). There's good info there.
You seem like one of those people who need to suffer in order to learn. I'm sorry for you. It's a shame to waste time, since we all have so lilttle on this planet to begin with.
And Old Medic is a cranky man who couldn't afford the DS so he slams it at every chance he gets. He will never cite the research he blathers on and on about the DS because it does not exist. He is so new to his VSG so he's in his happy weight loss window, assuming life will always be that way for him. In about 3 years he will come crawling to the DS forum, under a new name and avatar, asking for info on a revision to a DS. Mark my words.

Surgical management of gastroesophageal reflux disease in obesity.
Department of Surgery, Bariatric Division, University of Minnesota, 420 Delaware Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455, USA. [email protected]
Bariatric surgery is ubiquitous today. In the obese patient with comorbid gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), it is increasingly being used as an alternative to fundoplication because it not only has an effect on GERD but also on other comorbid illnesses. Traditional GERD surgery is designed to augment the mechanical barriers against reflux, decrease acid production in the stomach, improve gastric emptying, or divert bile from the stomach. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass addresses these issues in addition to resulting in profound weight loss in patients. Banding may have a positive influence in patients' GERD, though to a lesser extent. The duodenal switch provides excellent control for patients with alkaline reflux. A revision of the 1991 National Institutes of Health guidelines for determining bariatric surgical candidates is overdue, and it may be feasible to consider expanding the body mass index and comorbidity requirements to reflect the benefits offered by these techniques for GERD patients.
Since our session yesterday my email/internet “color settings" have darkened to an illegible coloration for most reception. Adjustment to the contrast settings on the front of the monitor resulted in appropriate light contrast for the monitor screen . . . which leds me to the conclusion that some hacker/monitor is still mucking with my communication surfer . . . if you get my drift!
Another microsoft tech support staff guided me to the contrast monitor. . . can you dump the mass riding my ass . . . sue the troglodyte(s). . . and have him/her/they incarcerated for the remainder of his/her/their natural life . . . and then some more! Thank you!
