The only “bashing" in my earlier response to you was for your temerity in wagging your finger and trying to tell me how I should post on the message board, especially in a thread that WAS NOT DIRECTED TO POST-OPS LIKE YOU in the first damned place.  The rest of the post was factual information about the DS and the dangers of revisions.  Do you have some reading comprehension issues in addition to your English language problems?  For example, in one single (albeit run-on) paragraph:

* Moron, not moran.

* The phrase is “say your piece" not “say your peace."

* Do you not know the difference between being called a name, and being invited to perform an unnatural act upon yourself?

If you are so “sensitive" that you can’t read these message boards without taking things THAT ARE NOT EVEN ADDRESSED TO YOU so personally, I strongly suggest that you take a break from OH until your hormones settle down, until you get a grip on that life-long diet you signed up for, or at the very least that you block me – you can’t seem to handle my posts without getting your panties in a bunch.

I understand that the post is about insurance and the fact that you need to make the right choice first because you may or may not have the option to have a revision. I also understand that revisions can be much more dangerous.  I get all that I am not some complete moran.  I just don't think that you should be so cruel in your posts.  My post was not mean at all and you turn around and bash me.  I get that you DON"T GIVE A DAMN what I think but I need to say my peace because I was not wagging a finger at you and was not tearing you a new a**hole like you tried to do to me.  So I have said my peace now and don't care how you respond to me but in the end I think I am doing quite well with my surgery and am happy with what I chose and that is what matters to me.  You keep right on making rude statements and calling people names if you think it makes you a better or bigger person.

"I am not some complete moran. "

You mean THIS KIND of "moran?"  You might be.

This site provides information, not just support.  This post wasn't ABOUT support, it was about information.  When people NEED support from a DSer, they get it - if you don't believe that, checkout the DS forum here on OH and see for yourself.  This thread is also not ABOUT post-ops OR 'pushing' the DS . . . . it's about insurance coverage and directed at pre-ops.  It never seems to fail that a POST-OP (and not a DS post-op) turns these threads into something it was not about to begin with.  Do pre and post-op DSers chime in?  Sure they do . . . wouldn't you?  Didn't you?  I think maybe you should go check to see where the intent and tone of this thread changed before you wag your finger and put the blame on the OP or other DSers.

Your statement  "Everyone must choose for themselves what they want done to their bodies." is right on, AND part of the intention of this thread.  Newbies (pre-ops) need to choose, but they also need to know what their choices ARE.

Diana - great post.  This is EXACTLY why I chose the DS.  I wanted to make the best decision the first time and go with the most successful EWL surgery there is.  :)

Yeah, I think you are right dreamweaver. I think when some folks have DS they are so bitter and so fustrated that every time anyone even suggests they might nave been wrong in their opinions they burst into rage. Sad, isn't it?  Either that or during surgery the surgeon removes their nice gene. Not all DSers but some.

I worked with my DS friend so I am aware of her bowel issues and we worked together on a medical floor.  I have known her for almost 20 years. Why the hell would I lie about it? If I ever wanted to back up my opinion, I'd just go to the DS site and quote a DSer who has had the same problems.

I did not come to a DS site looking for a fight. This is posted on the main board. I don't go to DS sites very often. Just mostly when I was doing research on my wls.  Many people( not all, some are very nice and actually helpful)  on there are definately hostile. Strange thing is, I've seldom found that reaction on any of the other wls sites. Maybe that tells you something?

This is posted on the main board and basically says " If you have had the stupidity  to have had any other surgery except DS then you have blown your one and only insurance paid wls." The post also says basically "If you are considering wls you would be stupid and ill advised to choose any of the other useless ineffective surgeries except of course DS  because DS is the be all end all of wls." According to Diane every other wls except DS is a waste of your insurance coverage. Correct me if that is not what she is saying because that is what I read.

It's great that you love your DS so much but people who are having great success with their choice of weight loss feel the same about their choice.

Oh yeah, Mr. Apologise, maybe you should. Pity you can't have an intelligent debate or discussion like an adult without having to resort to profanity and childlike name calling. Bye all!

If you are really a friend to this woman, then send her to the DS forum. We can help her. That is NOT normal for a DSer and she may not know about her options, especially if she is plugged in to the DS community. Seiously, don't just tsk, tsk this mythical person. Help her.

And given you just said you are in the medical field, shame on you for not taking your vites! You should know better.

As to this thread, the OP was trying to tell people of her vast experiences with insurance companies. Most people are unaware that they may have a lifetime cap of ONE on their weight loss surgeries. That will follow them everywhere, no matter who their insurer is.

Gone are the days of "oh, if this X doesn't work out, I can have Y later." I think that is a valid, helpful point, especially since we hear that kind of talk here on the MB, band and VSG boards all of the time. "Oh, I'll try this and if it doesn't work out, I will get revised to the DS." You will likely get ONE turn at WLS people!

Now, you may not agree with someone's delivery, but the message is the same:

Protect yourselves people. Investigate all of your options. Think about who you are and if you are good at dieting. Think what success means to you. How long do you want to keep the weight off? Is 50% EWL enough? Is not resolving your diabetes okay with you? Your insurance will pay for ONE surgery. Pick one that works.

no it does not say that.  are you stupid and cannot comprehend that it says that many policies include a stipulation that you are entitled to one wls per lifetime.

sheesh!

Did we read the same post? This thread is about INSURANCE and choosing the right surgery the first time, and it is directed at PREOPS. You and some of these other RNYers must be feeling doubtful about your choices if this is your response to something not even directed at you. Diana is a FOUNT of information to newbies and preops. If you dont like her and the DS offends you for any reason, for God's sake just SKIP THE THREAD instead making yourself look like an oversensitive ass.
