WARNING TO PRE-OPS: Think twice, cut once -- or else!
Did you reall all the posts, it started with a simple questions and queen diana waved her hand and stuck her tiara in the pot to be stirred. So, do or dont take offense. When the rant got bombed by all my posts back to back, queen diana ran off to her imaginary kingdom. So, to people who jumped on the wagon like CHAD M. they can to wack off in some corner. People like meltingmama and a couple others that talk about all everything balanced gets drowned out to some newbies. So it is not aimed at you, but hey, if you take it personally, your issue not mine. Scared the living daylights of someone I know in my support group and we talked off the main board. So, if your insulted dont comment, or get involved.

Won against big bad (SoCal) Kaiser for a Duodenal Switch Haven't heard of DS? Kaiser wants it that way. Come on over & read the truth.
Hit goal (Normal BMI) on 2-10-11! I LOVE my DS!!
My approval process timeline:
02/12/09 - Dr. refused to refer me for WLS
03/03/09 - Vented/whined about it on another board, planned to just wait until next year & switch plans
Let's see what happens! **updates in blog**

Yeah, **** tends to do that.
Soooo, you can read? You've been on here going nuts for about 6+ hours now calling out people who've moved on for the day. Maybe you should do the same. Walk away with your head held high, knowing that you've really put the hurtin to us all with your mad thinkin & rationalization skills!

So, if I am insulted I should not comment or get involved? That suggestion makes no sense.
How have your posts added to the "balanced" discussion rather than just adding fuel to the fire?

The thread is addressed to PRE OPS. Since you are postop, why did you open it, especially since it was abundantly clear what the subject matter would be?
You got what you got, and it has a decent chance of working decently. Hopefully it will work out far better than decently. Hopefully it will be GREAT.
But guess what? This is the MAIN BOARD. We get to play here too. So if you don't like hearing from DSers, and from Diana Cox in particular, use your block button and go on with your life. You don't get the right to tell us where or how to post.

I don't want to start an argument here but everyone is different. I am only 9 weeks post op with a RNY and don't find any difficulty eating of anything. I have also lost 60lbs. Which to me in 9 weeks is great. But I do want to point out that this website you are all on publishes a magazine too if anyone is interested. In the Nov/Dec 2008 issue a surgeon talks about all the options and heath risks that go with each surgery. Basically the Duodenal Switch has the highest instances of malnutrition. He does not say any one surgery is better than the other. You guys who are trying to push the Duodenal Switch on everyone are wrong. Everyone must choose for themselves what they want done to their bodies. You may think your surgery is supreme and the best and that's fine but who are you to bash other people for choosing what they think is right. We get it you all believe it's the best surgery out there, that's fine but why do you have to be so rude? People come here looking for support and answers to their questions not to be told they made the wrong choice or that they have to get the Switch because everything else is not worth their time. I know many people who have had a RNY a good friend of mine is 8 years post op and still holding steady at her goal weight. Everyone is different and I think if you are going to be posting on the preop board everyone should have a little more tact and help people by answering their questions not by bashing them!
Sigh. Which part of the title of this post did you NOT understand? Including that it wasn't directed to YOU?
The purpose of this thread, which was directed to PRE-OPS, not you, was to warn them of changing insurance practices that may make whatever surgery they select the LAST one that their insurance company is going to pay for. That is not opinion, that is FACT.
The DS is THE MOST EFFECTIVE of all of the weight loss surgeries -- whether you non-DS post-ops want to believe it or not. That is not opinion, that is FACT.
Pre-ops need to know these two things before they make their choice of surgery, because they are increasingly likely to NOT going to be allowed to opt for a "less invasive" surgery or one with less malabsorption, on the assumption that if their lesser tool fails them, they can just get it revised to a DS later at an insurance company's expense. This may no longer be an option in the future! It was a pretty stupid way of approaching this decision anyway, because revisions are always more dangerous than virgin surgeries -- RNYs and even Lapbands **** up the stomach, making creating the sleeve out of the remaining HASH of incisions, erosions and scar tissue much more likely to leak, and even VSGers who think they can "just add the switch" later if their VSG fails them will likely ALSO need to be resleeved at the same time -- an inherently more dangerous surgery.
Do some people succeed with the Lapband, VSG and RNY. Of course. But not NEARLY as often as with the DS, nor with as high a percentage of average EWL, nor for as LONG TERM as DSers maintain their weight loss, nor with as easy to maintain a regimen. We don't diet. The rest of you do. Pre-ops need to know this, and frankly, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN what you think of how I communicate this information.
So take your newbie wagging finger and stick it where the sun don't shine.
