You might want to read this thread about bowel issues.  I think most, if not all, posters had RNY surgery!  I could not live with those bowel issues. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/amos/4041816/When-a-Fart-i s-not-a-Fart/

Does your spell check button work?  It is hard to read posts like these

I, just like you knew you could not live with a DS, knew I could not live with an RNY.  I'm sorry, but I just could not.

My insurance would have paid 100% for the RNY, but with the statistics published and the diet that you have to live with, I self-paid for the DS.

Let me know what you think of the thread after you read it.

WOW!  I've never seen anything like this on the DS forum!  A *very few* DSers have *some* problems with poo, but nothing like all those RNYers on that post!  My goodness, I never knew!

You should have your "friend" (if she actually exists) contact us on the DS forum.  If she is having the problems you describe, she can almost without a DOUBT be helped by our advice.  Her surgeon probably is giving her crappy advice -- most DS surgeons don't know as much as we do about how to actually LIVE with the DS, and PCPs are for the most part even more hopeless.

If you care about your friend, send her to us for help.  We can help turn her life around.

I'm sorry, I don't comment much on these topics, but WHAT THE FUCK!  Are you kidding me?!

have a friend who has had DS and I would not want her lifestyle for a minute.. If she goes a day or two without her vitamins, she feel sick and if she were ti continue to go without vitamins she would becone very ill quite fast.

No you don't that's bull****  Tell your friend to come to the DS board and show herself.  I don't believe that for one bit.  How in the hell do you think I fast from taking my vitamins for 3 days before I get my labs drawn?  And I don't feel sick in the slightest.  Anyway, you need to take vitamins with ALL WLS.

on the other habd have gone up to 2 weeks without my 4 vitamins a day and sufer not at all. I;d choose RnY all over again in a half of a heartbeat, Nothing else would do for me anyway.eight loss surgery.  So that is not an excuse.

LMAO!  Okay.  I'll make you a deal.  You continue taking 4 vitamins a day, and take every other two weeks off.  Do that for um, let's see.  6 months and then go get your labs drawn.  I'll guarantee you'll be knocking on death's door.  Don't think so?  Try it.  I'll wait.

Oh yeah, she has some real bowel issues too that woukd horrify me. It does her too and she has to be so careful of what she eats because of this. It happens suddenly and she has to go now. Nope not for me. Some days she says she wishes she had RnY

So which surgeon do you work for?  Who's office are you promoting.  BULL**** AGAIN!  Um, I have a 75cm Common Channel, which actually pretty short for some, and I go to the bathroom once sometimes twice a day.  I have never **** myself, and I never had the urge to **** myself.  Even though I am perfectly capable of doing so.  I, however, choose to be a perfect gentlemen and not subject anyone to my poo.  That's just me though I guess.

Am I the only DSer that feels this way?

No, you are not the only DSer that feels this way :)  75cm common channel here, too.  No issues with pooing myself either.

(Ahem, raises hand)
Another 75cm common channel here.  Not a single bathroom issue since the first day I was allowed to try purees- In fact, I've never been more regular in my life than since surgery.  No food intolerances, I feel better than I have in years, and I'm at 42% EWL at 3 months out.

75 cm common channel and no bowel issues other than occasional gas here, all totally connected to what I eat. No eat the gas causers, no gas. Very simple.

Did you read what you just wrote? Your friend feels sick when she misses her vitamins. Why is she missing her vitamins? You cant live with the DS or any other malabsorptive procedure if you arent COMPLIANT.
