Pureed Pizza? Yes, it's true!

So, I need to brag a minute. My hubby makes the best homemade pizza ever and tonight he made one since the family was coming over. I just upgraded to pureed foods so was ready to enjoy some yogurt while the family ate some yummy homemade pizza. Sitting at my place was a small ramakin of yummy goodness. Hubby pureed pizza toppings with some cheese and even added some unflavored protein powder and baked it for me. I swear it was the best thing ever! Warm, spicy and filling! The ingrediants were some sauce, shredded cheese, pepperoni and sausage (he precooked and dried the grease off them) and protein powder. My pouch is very happy and handled the ground meats fine. I've never been so excited for pureed food ever!!

Sounds like you have a real "keeper" there.   I would be careful with meats right now (though he sounds like he did the right thing by drying off the grease).   It just goes to show that when you want to, you can find things that will work.

Congratulations!

They are both such sweet characters.   I used to be strictly a cat person, but I have been reformed!   These babies are just wonderful.  Thanks

What a sweet husband you have!   Thanks for posting the recipe, it sounds delicious!   I'm 3/1/2 weeks out, but I'm having trouble with a stricture, so I'm still on pureed foods.  I'm going to try this for tomorrow night!

You better not...you will end up in the hospital.  That is not the food anyone new post-op should be eating..(pork and beef should only be introduced after 3 months)...and your gonna try it with a stricture..I would totally think this over again and go back to the meal plan your doctor provided you.

I BETTER NOT????? Chilipepper, that's an awfully strong statement to someone who did NOT ask for your assistance!

I appreciate people's well-intentioned guidance when it is, at least, phrased in a polite manner.  I DON"T appreciate being spoken to like I'm an idiot.

You have NO idea what my approved food plan includes, you have NO idea what type of ingredients I use or how I cook.    My surgeon praised me for pureeing a homemade BEEF and vegetable soup until there were no solids left and getting a WHOLE LOT of protein that way.

The OP did not ask for anyone's help and neither did I.  She was simply stating something that made her happy, that her husband cared enough to do something special for her.   I validated that thought, as that's why I come to these boards.

But...you have a stricture, so her advice wasn't that far off base.

The fat from whatever meat you decide to puree is going to hurt you and I'd hate to see someone go through that. I would really recommend sticking with blander more "basic" foods until your stricture is taken care of.

...and I'm speaking from experience here. I had a stricture AND an ulcer on my jejunum at four months out and anything high in fat (pureed or not!!) killed me.

Before biting someone's head off, you have to consider that they might be speaking to you based on things they have experienced themselves. Not everyone is trying to be mean - just helpful, and I know sometimes there's a fine line between the two, but it's the Internet - take everything with a grain of salt.

Hope your stricture is taken care of soon so you can progress on your journey without the complications.

Thank you for your response,  I'm sorry to hear you had such a miserable complication.  It is has definately not been fun living on protein shakes, pudding and clear liquids for the past month!

My point is that   I personally would never choose to use regular, high fat pepperoni in any recipe.  I merely think that the flavor profile of "pizza" sounded like a good idea.  Once can get the same flavors from pureeing Italian turkey sausage, marinara sauce and Italian seasonings in the blender then baking it with some parmesan cheese on top.

If I had been asking for assistance, suggestions, etc, I would have welcomed responses, possibly even if they were judgmental, and not so nicely phrased.

I agree that it certainly wouldn't hurt any of us to THINK before we write.  I waited 6 hours before I responded to Chilipepper, I was that angry.  All of us have experienced judgemental, rude behavior in our overweight lives, and we ned to be kinder to each other than that.

Yeah, the 50 other people saying it is to early for that must be way wrong . I didn't think chilipepper was rude. I thought she was trying to be helpful. It's so wonderful you came to the boards to "validate" things that may be harmful to people.
