anyone else have painful "fatty lipomas"?
I'm pre LapBand and I'm wondering if anyone has what my doctor describes as fatty lumps or lipomas under the skin that sometimes are painful, like they are pressing on a nerve. I seem tohave numerous small ones (marble size) on my love handle area and some on my thighs and abdomen. Even though my doctor tells me they will not disappear after I lose weight, they may become less painful. I have to admit sometimes they are less painful than others although I have not been able to figure out what aggravates them. Just wondering if anyone else has any insight into what can help with these. Seems like my they have been irritated for several months now on my left side and back and makes wearing clothes and sleeping uncomfortable. Thanks for your help.
Oh, the joys of lipopmas! I have several. They are hereditary, and always benign. They will shrink considerably to almost nothing when you get yourweight off. When they are really small they don't get iritated as much. If they do, you can always have them removed by a plastic surgeon. You know, statisticly, only a very small percentage of people on the planet have MULTIPLE lipomas. Most people with lipomas have one or two. I have them in my arms, and a couple in my legs. I guess we're a couple of freaks. Hey...atleast ya know your not alone!
here's to shrinking lipomas!

I had to laugh Gabriella because you said statistically only a small percentage of people have multiple lipomas - just figures that I have to be one of them - I have had so many strange and odd illnesses in my life. I have multiple lipomas in several places - arms, abdomen, thighs, mid back and sides - even had one removed from behind my knee that was bothering me. If they weren't painful - I wouldn't care but I hope you are right and that they shrink when I shrink.
That's why this board is so great - where else could I find a fellow freak to give me some hope? Thanks again. Sweet*Lady
