Were some of the tubes covered in foil immediately?  Some marked "do not spin"?

And were there something like 7 tubes minimum?

We ask because all too often, people get 2 tubes pulled, typically a CMP and maybe an iron level, and they think this is all there is.  A full panel is really like 7-10 tubes depending on the lab and ordering physician.

Hi Andrea

FYI - I don't have any health insurance and recently paid my PCP $100 to talk about my 1 year labs. She looked at the complete list I'd brought with me, checked on the internet and told me it would cost about $1000 to have all those labs done.  GAK!

She sent me to a health fair where I got some basic done for $21 and is leaving it up to me as to what additional labs I have done. I was waiting for those results to decide but what do you think?

I'll have the CBC & CMP and I know for sure to get Vit D and B-12, are all the rest absolutely essential? because if they are, I'll get them.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I can drive to an anylabtestnow - interesting company. do you recommend their micro nutrient panel for $399?  I think I will call them and see what that is, exactly.

there may be other labs  closer, do you have any experience with that one in particular?

thanks for any help/advice you've got. I hope that fact that you are posting so much means you feel better.

or are you trying to distract yourself?

I can't move.  My back is bad due to the needles and the patch.  I was told the patch would hurt pretty badly, but I thought they were kinda used wimps and such.  So maybe I'm kinda a wimp, I dunnow.  The head isn't HAPPY, but it's not bad.  I am medicating which is why I'm trying to hang out mostly on R&R cause I'm a bit.. weird.  I kinda took someone down over there a few minutes back, and have now hit the report button twice and I've maybe done that 20 times total in my life here, so go figure.

In any case, I have a $50 card for them SOMEWHERE.  If it is still good and I can find it, it's yours.  Sam's coming over in the morning, and I'll have her help me look for it.  I have a good idea where it is.  I don't need it as I have insurance, and you can def. use it.  So if it doesn't expire, it's as good as yours for whatever you need it for.

Lemme look at the panel and let you know.  May not be here, but I will NOT forget you.

You ALSO had the VSG, which does not have a huge  malabsorption component to factor in like the DS and RNY.

My sister (who is 57) was taking Flintstones after her RNY. I said to her..how many do you take a day? "one" she replied. So, I said...how did you figure you needed 1 a day?
She picked up the bottle and showed me where it said dose...1/2 a vitamin if you are under 4....Over 4, take 1 a day!!

Anyhow, I straightened her out and she is now on 2 Bariatric Multi's a day plus the correct calcium (Oh yes, she was taking Viactive ..rolling eyes).
Hopefully people will understand the vitamin situation before they have health issues from the malabsorption, etc.
Thought u would enjoy the chuckle (over age of 4, take 1 a day)

Ok, I have been trying to keep up with this post because I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I know nothing about vitamins.  But having read all of this, I still don't know anything, lol.  I do know that I have one heck of a migraine and I can't swallow a tylenol.
So, yes my nutritionist did tell me to make sure I get in 800 IU of vitamin D3 daily which I get in my awful tasting liquid calcium plus 2 Flintstones.  I didn't question it as, I was sure she knew what she was talking about...however, I have an open mind and am always willing to learn.
I'm having a hard time finding a chewable anything other than the kids vits.  I'm not sure if this is a Canadian thing or the fact that I live in a small rural area with not a lot of options.
I will gladly make a trip into the city to try to find the correct vits if anyone is willing to breakdown what my requirements should be.
I cannot contact my family Doctor, she is on leave for another 2 months and my surgeon doesn't do follow up unless its an emergency.  I had this surgery to improve my health, not make it worse.  I will take any advice you may all provide for me and it's much appreciated in advance.
I would try to read everything again and try to soak up the information, but it just gets to be so overwhelming, sorry.
