At what breakfast place can you not just order 1 egg?  (or whatever)
A card is not necessary to just order what you want.

 Restaurant Card

This card is about the size of a normal credit card.  Print it out, print your name, and then take to your surgeon for signature.  Then have it laminated at your local Kinko's.

it might be of help at a buffet or all you can eat type restaurant when your invited to a family get together or something like that. Because I would rather pay 5.99  instead of 9.99 to eat fifty cents worth of food.

I don't get this.  We didn't ask to pay more when we ate enough for 3 people before surgery so why would we ask to pay less now that we eat less?

Most of the costs that you pay for when you buy food is overhead and not food costs.  You are still using the same number of dishes that need to be washed, floors that need to be cleaned, uitilities that need to be paid for, staff time and efforts.

I would never dream of asking to pay less because I just don't think it is right and especially if we did not ask to pay more for buffets when we ate far more than our share.  But, that's me.

My surgeon gave me a keychain to use.  I don't need to save money on a meal, but there are some things that just don't taste good heated up.  Denny's has been great to me.  (Fairbanks, alaska is a little short on good restaurants).  I have only used it twice but they have honored it both times.  For me it not about money, but about trying to stay within my limits as far as how much I can eat.  We don't eat out often because its just easier to stay home its also healthier.

I don't feel that there is any shame in using the card.   There were times that I ate about 1/8 of the meal and was not able to take the left overs due to traveling etc.  Wasting hard earned cash is a shame.  I don't have a card but I wouldn't think poorly of someone who used it.

I don't have a card but was told at my last support group that they have them at the Surgeons office so I would check with your Surgeons office.

I have never had a problem ordering off the childrens menu.  But that is generally only good at breakfast because of the crappy choices.  I will also ask about a Senior's menu or luncheon portion.  There are some things at Red Lobster that one can order a half portion.  I will also share a item with my husband.  No one has ever given us a hard time when we do this.  At places like Longhorn where one can order an extra item -- like adding a skewer of shrimp or a lobster tail when ordering an entree -- husband will order a steak or whatever and the extra item and I eat that.  Here again no one has ever given us a hard time about it.

Hi Charlene,  I know what you mean.

My husband and I  recently went on vacation to the US and even here in Canada when I ask to order off the childs menu, they always say NO. I was so shocked. I've had to explain EVERY time that all the portions are too large, but they still say NOPE.

I even went to a resturant and on the menu for breakfast it said, 2 eggs, bacon or sausage or ham, plus toast and hasbrowns. When I ordered, I said to the waitress, oh I'll just have 1 egg and the ham, no toast or hashbrowns.

She said, well it comes with 2 eggs and toast and hashbrowns, I said, oh that's too much. I'll just have 1 egg with ham.

She said, sorry it comes with all that, we can't cut it down. So, instead of arguing, I took it all for 8.95 and didn't eat what I didn't want in the first place.  Leaving that food felt awful but of course I couldn't eat it or force myself.

When she cleared my plate away, she said, Oh someone wasn't hungry today. I couldn't believe it.   This actually happened in more than one place, but this one stuck out the most.

I try to order from the seniors menu now and eliminate what I don't want from the start, they are smaller portions and usually cheaper than the normal menu, and they don't seem to ask for a seniors card (as I'm not that age, but they are more forgiving it seems when it's off the seniors menu ... haha)

Good luck.
