It's called MARKETING. The restaurant offers cheaper products for lunch in order to bring in more people for dinner.

But you go enjoy begging for smaller portions and getting laughed at for it. By all means, have a ball.

My husband and I got our's from our Surgeons office.  I have only used it once at Toby Keith's.

My card came from my program coordinator in the packet of information I got pre-op.  However, I have yet to find a resturant that honors it.....Good luck!!  connie

I love that you asked if she wanted to see your scars! That cracked me up. Anyway, I know that someone posted a downloadable one that you can print and have your surgeon sign. Good Luck!

I was told that you can get them from www.bariatricadvantage.com

I was given one from my surgeons office.  I have yet to use it, as I have not really been out to eat since the surgery.

Have fun on your vacation.

My surgeon's office gives them out during a pre-op class. I have yet to use mine.

My thoughts on the restaurant card--useless.  The kid's menus are usually terrible--fried foods or hot dogs and hamburgers.  I usually just try to order lunch portions of what ever, and if they won't do that at dinner time--I just order the regular meal and box up most of it and take it home.  My husband eats it for lunch the next day or I have dinner for the next few nights...

I don't like "advertising" that I am different.  I feel that I don't have to explain to anybody what I want to order at a restaurant.

Anyway, just my two cents.

I never understand why some people want to use these just to order junk off a children's menu!  If you are that short of funds, eat at home. There are things on the regular menu you can order that are smaller portions. I spent most of my adult life as an obese "freak" of nature. Now that I am the size of a normal person, I would NEVER embarrass myself by advertising the fact that I had WLS in a public place like a restaurant. Not that I am ashamed of it, and I am more than willing to talk about it to anyone that asks. But I would never bring it up to a waitress in a restaurant just to get a discounted meal. I want to live a normal life.

I agree completely.  I have to admit, I'd be embarrassed to use it anyway.

I don't want to stick out anymore, I don't want to advertise that I had WLS.  I did go to Chili's once with a banded friend and I was a sleeve noob and she was a too tight banded person.  We could hardly eat anything.  I ate the bacon off my burger (I was entitled, I was at goal at the time of my revision from band to sleeve LOL) and that was all I could eat.  I was stuffed.  My friend couldn't eat much either.  The waitress came over, saw our full plates and asked... "Weight loss surgery?"  We both cracked up and said yes.  She started laughing and said she would get us some 'to go' containers.

But the card?  Nope, the children's menus are disgusting food choices.  I'd rather just take leftovers home and enjoy the meal a few more times.

I don't want a discounted meal, I want to pay for the meal that I want to eat.

I travel a lot, and it's not feasible for me to take leftovers if my hotel room doesn't have a fridge and a microwave, or if my travel companions are going out for the next meal and I won't have a chance to eat them.

Also, if a bunch of friends/family are going to a buffet, I want to ask if I can pay the kids' price, since I'll be eating less than a child would. That one is a long shot, but I'll still ask, and it would be useful to have the card to show.
