Protein in urine and/or "foamy" urine????

I have heard it  may be ok to have occasional protein in urine in a normal person's urine but is it more frequent with WLS patients?  It seems like there are visible particles and sometime "foamy" urine.  Does anyone else have this or know if it is ok to have it quite frequently?

I looked it up om Mayo Clinic and they say it's ok once-in-a-while but it is like all the time with me.  Is it just the weight loss that is causing it and is it harmful?  Any advise or similar experiences, I would love to hear.  Thanks!

p/s I had RNY lap on 12-31-08, and have gone from 234lbs to 143lbs and follow the 6 small meals, protein 1st, 4 optisource vits, etc, diet if this makes any difference pertaining to my question.

I would speak to your Dr about this. The protein in the urine coupled with "foamy" urine could be a first indicator of possible stress on the kidneys. Do you have other symptoms such as dry, itchy skin, high BP, or anemia?

Thanks for the reply Lisa, I have very low BP, my skin is/has always been itchy and dry.  And I do have anemia since WLS.

Foamy urine could also be a sign of Diabetes. It has something to do with the amount of sugar and protein in your urine. Please have that checked!

When I was first diagnosed with Diabetes this is what started for me
