did anyone wish they did not have the surgery?
Yep.. sometimes.. I am 5 years post op. I wish I would have had LapBand.
I like being thin. I love the way I look. It is all the other things I hate. I have several surgeries related to my WLS. The chronic nausea, vitamin deficiencies, low blood pressure, low sugar, I still have problems eating, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, iv iron treatments. I actually worry about how long I will live with all my medical problems now. I had none before surgery and self paid. I think I am only a rare case. I have 2 sister in laws that had the same surgeon and have always done great with no problems.
I am not writing this for you not to do it. Just do your homework and be aware of the things that can happen both pros and cons.
Something else I didn't think about beyond just paying for the surgery. Last year alone I had $140,000 on medical bills related to WLS. My insurance max out for the year at $100,000. I now have medical bills I will be paying on what seems like forever and they keep coming.

You've gotten some really good advice here. Do read the Regrets board, the Revisions board, and talk with us old-timers. Be certain to talk with Melting Mama---she has a doozie of a story to tell about regrets.
And research EVERYTHING. Make this decision based solely on what YOU want, and what YOU are confident you can live with, FOREVER. Don't rely on what your PCP says, or your insurance company, or even your WL surgeon. They're not the ones who'll be living with this decision for the rest of your life---you are.
I will be six years post-op come December, and I give thanks for my DS each and every day. Well, more like every meal. (*grin*) But I *almost* screwed up and had the RNY instead, and I'm pretty sure I would not be nearly as happy if I had. I *might* have been just as successful with the RNY, but I wouldn't be eating bacon cheeseburgers.
