drinking before meals

Has anyone heard that it's ok to drink within the 30 minutes before meals?  i know you're not supposed to drink during or 30 min to an hour after meals, but what about right before hand?

I'm unclear about this anymore.  I used to follow the no drinking rule before meals strictly, but i've been post op for a while, and while i've gotten back to no drinking during and after meals, just not sure about the before meals question.

Thanks for your help!

Our dietician actually said that after 6 months post op, it is helpful to drink 8 oz water fairly quickly about 15 minutes before a meal to "preload" your pouch and help you feel full sooner. --Sarah

There's no reason to not drink before a meal......the reason to not drink after a meal is so you won't wash the solid foods out of your pouch and make you get hungry quicker.  I'm a bandster, so I almost always drink a warm drink before meals to loosen my band and help food go down a little easier.
